I just had a recurrent Bartholin's cyst removed. It seems to be healing well, but is bleeding pretty steadily 4 days after the surgery. Swelling has gone down, but the whole area is bruised. Anyone else have experience with removal of these cysts? I'm curious about how the healing process progressed, when everything was back to normal, etc.

You need to be sure to follow-up with the doctor that did the surgery. You should have a post-operative appointment with him. It shoulds like everything is as it should be, but it would be best if you'd see your doctor is having any questions or problems. Karen :)

Sugarbear11 - how are you progressing? I hope the bleeding has subsided. Please follow up with your doctor and keep us posted on your progress. I had a Bartholin's cyst swollen about 2 years ago and am fearful of a recurrence.

Had the same cyst removed over a year ago, little or no bleeding and no discomfort, but have battled vaginitis every since. That was how they found the cyst, I started having severe vaginitis. I seem to be trying to form one on the other side, it swells some and then goes down. On mine they sewed open the duct instead of draining. I have never met another woman who had that procedure done. Good luck....did you have trouble w/yeast infections prior or since?

Thanks for the replies :) I'm progressing pretty well, and I do have a follow-up appointment with my doctor in about a week. It's still a bit swollen, very bruised. I first had the cyst appear about 10 months ago -- it swelled up to the size of a golf ball, it was cut and drained, packed with gauze. I had to have this done a second time later that month. Then, about 6 months after that it came back, not nearly as big...but it still got swollen and irritated after sex. Not fun. I just wanted to get it removed so I wouldn't have to bother with it anymore. I wasn't in an incredible amount of pain after the surgery, just swollen and bruised. Now its bleeding a little bit and oozing -- part of the healing process I guess. The doc put liquid/dissolvable stitches in and those came out 3 days after the surgery. They said it would be about 2 weeks until I was healed but I think it might be more like three. It sucks to have to wait that long to have sex again  Thanks for the replies.
