I recently purchased Nature's Bounty "Vitamins for the Hair"... it contains Biotin and Niacin and soy protein... (experiencing some post-stress hairloss)
a couple things:

a.) does this stuff have any effect on hair growth and strengthening whatsoever?
b.) Is Niacin dangerous?
c.) I'm mildly allergic to soy, and it contains soy proteins... should I not take it?
d.) Are there any other supplements I should take?

Thanx

im also taking this vitamin as well and would like to hear people's comments about it. It says to take two a day but im only taking one to start off with.

also, this is my first time ordering from Nature's Bounty. Are they a good and safe company to buy from? They seem to have great prices and good service but you never know...

I actually returned my bottle... I'm going to take biotin (for strength), silica (growth), and some prenatals (thickness)...
here's what someone replied to another one of my posts:

"I take Prenatals (1 a day) Silica (2 a day) and Biotin (2 a day). This worked for me. Silica makes it grow long. Prenatals help the thickness and biotin helps with strength."

Hope this helps you out as well :-)

I'm afraid of excess oiliness as a side effect though, i've known this to happen to people who have taken biotin and other hair suppliments. if anyone can shed light on this i'd appreciate it.

Has anyone taken evening primrose oil for hair growth/regrowth? I was reading some online articles and it has helped some people. I bought some the other day and am hoping that it will help!

I just wanted to post an update. I bought evening primrose oil around the first week of September. I'm already not losing as many hairs as I was! I have no idea if I'll get new hairgrowth, but at least the number of hairs falling out is slowing down.....I hope this continues!

2tired, are you male or female? also is evening primrose oil a vitamin or is it an actual oil you apply to your scalp?

The Evening Primrose Oil I bought is a softgel tab that is 500mg each. I have been taking three a day. I am female and my hair loss is due in part to thyroid problems as well as heredity.

I take Biotin - 5000 mcg, no problems with oiliness.
Look for another cause.

I take SHEN-MIN which has Biotin in it as well. It does wonders for the length of my hair and health. My hair now grows at least one inch each month! It didn't do that before.
