Ok, first off once or twice a year I go through a phase where I am hungry but nothign sounds good so I don't eat very much, esp not dinner cuz everything that my mom is making sounds yucky. I keep craving stuff like salads and subway and stuff but I can't always be buying that stuff, I just can't afford it. I made myself eat Rice a Roni this morning and it didn't taste good at all, and I had cheesecake last nite (one of my fave foods on earth) and it tasted yucky too. I woke up this morning with this pain that goes from the top of my chest to like the bottom of my ribs. It has been going on for about 5 hours now. I woke up to it. I feel slightly nauseous with it too. Are these two weird things maybe related? Idk I'm trying to figure out my eating problem, I force myself to eat because I know I have to. And this pain in my chest feels like I swallowed something like a hard candy whole or something. Idk. Any thoughts anyone? I am definately going to a doctor if this pain doesn't go away, the eating thing I haven't decided if I wanna go to a doctor about it or not... Well thanks for reading and I hope u guys can help me understand a bit. Thanks much!

Sounds like possibly a hiatal hernia to me. Some chiropractors actually do maneuvers to pull the hiatal hernia back down out of the chest, into the abdomen where it belongs (part of the stomach is above the diaphragm with a hiatal hernia). Otherwise, MDs tend to want to endoscope you (put a tube down your throat and look for problems with the stomach) and if they find a hiatal hernia may want to do surgery to fix it.

I was just curiouse if this feeling you have in your chest it almost similar to the feeling you get when you are nervous or anxious about something?

No, it is not the same feeling. It is an actual pain. Well, I guess I should say it was. The pain is gone, but the eating problem still remains. I made myself food this morning and ate and now I feel sick, I didn't even finish all my food. I have lost a total of like 6 lbs in about 2 weeks. It's odd... Hmmm oh well.

I just came across your post randomly... I really think you should see a doctor, because that is sorta a lot of weight to lose. You could have a liver problem or a hernia like the person above mentioned. I hope you feel better!

there's a bacteria that embeds itself into the mucosa of your stomach and can cause so many problems for some people. It's called heliobactorpylori. It can cause ulcers of the dueodunum (spelling) and other things. One of the symtoms of this vicious little bugger is feeling of fullness after you eat only a few bites of food. then the weight loss comes.
feelings of nausea too.
It can be vague for some and horrible for others. the only way to determine this is to see a gastroenterlogist so they can run some tests. there's a few options in the way they test for it. one is through the breath, another a stool sample and the last by doing the scope job. don't be worried about the last one. they can put you asleep during the process.
I wish you well and hope you get a diagnosis soon so you can get better. before it gets worst.
good luck,
lintek

Well, the eating probs are definately gone. I been eating like a piggy, not gaining the weight back but maybe my metabolism is working now? but the chest pains have definately come back in a different way... Like, last nite at first it came around and it wasn't AS bad... but then it kept getting worse and changed a bit. Like, it starts in my back right below my neck and hurts there for a few then it moves to my chest into this excruciating pain that put me into tears. I called my doc this morning and am going to see him next week, but it still scares me. Since then I have had a tightness in my chest and I know if/when it's going to or may strike because i start getting this really tight feeling in my chest then my back starts hurting, very slightly at first, then it gets stronger. It's the weirdest thing. My doc wants me to come in to see him because of it so I'm a bit worried. What do you all think it may be to those who have any ideas? TIA

*edited to rephrase* i meant to say maybe my metabolism is working better now, not working in general lol

I have had the same problem for a little over 2 years now. It comes and goes though. I go through phases where I can't eat and when I do I am gaging while making myself eat. Then like within minutes of eating I feel sick, and get pains from my chest to my waist down my side. I went to the doctor after about a year of it, because my mom made me. He did blood work because my skin color has been yellowish/orange since and in the first year I lost 25 lbs. My blood work came back fine though, so I don't know what it is.

I don't know about the pain in your chest, i'd see a doctor about that...
but do you get alot of sleep?
I don't sleep very much because I have chronic insomnia and the lack of sleep can fool about with your brain a bit, sometimes making food taste strange and bitter. I unfortunatly have this all the time and it is very annoying! also, if you smoke (like me) that can damage your taste buds and make food taste a bit yucky and both of these things can contribute to having a lack of appetite or even give you nausea.
anyways I hope I helped, but that's all I know about what you're describing.
