Hi
I'm sure someone here can help me find what I am looking for...it's so hard to do an internet search when I don't even know what the thing is called!

I am trying to help my friend locate a walker-thingy for her 4-year-old w/CP. It's not really a walker, but one of those things babies sit in with the wide base on casters, a sling-type seat and a tray or table.

He has outgrown the ones made for babies and needs something taller and more sturdy.

Could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Hi. I think I know what you are talking about! Both Flaghouse-Special Populations and AdaptiveMall have several different types. Some are kind of like child size baby walkers, and there are also things called Gait Trainers. If you check out those companies, you may just find what you are looking for. Hope this helps lead you in the right direction! :)

i get things from the

Sammons Preston catalog alot.

the phone number to order a catalog is 800-323-5547.

i see a gait trainer in the spring 2004 catalog on page 336.

but be prepared to pay big bucks--over $1,200.00

check with your local handicap school/adults with disabilities work program

to see if you have a family resources or equivalent program that helps fund these needs.

also--if your friend uses occupational or physical therapy she can work with her therapist and physician

and may be able to get a prescription for a walker/gait trainer

and turn it into her insurance company or she may qualify for some state funding--in Ohio we call that BCMH-Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps.

Thanks for your help and input. We found exactly what we were looking for. It is called a "Preston Deluxe Child Wheeled Walker."
