Hi. It has been 5 days and my lymph node on the left side is still very swollen and the saliva gland under my tongue is very swollen as well. I feel pressure in my jaw on the left side and in my left ear. I have no idea what is wrong with me! What should I do to help reduce the inflammation? I realize that my body is fighting off an infection some where but it is freaking me out!

Don't be freaked out. You probably have something as simple as a pimple on that side of your face, a minor ear infection, or a small cut in your mouth like from biting your tongue. It should go away soon. If it isn't gone in another week or so, or it gets worse, go to your doctor and s/he should be able to figure out what is causing the inflammation and whether you need antibiotics.

Most infections are self-limiting and will clear up in a few days.

Sounds like you may have an infected tooth, is common for the swelling to extend to the neck region, jaw, and by the ears. Contact a dentist, you will need to take antibotics for the infection, if it is an infection of your tooth/teeth, and possible root canal or extraction. I just had one done two weeks ago, swelling in my neck, and no pain in the tooth, took me by surprise.

i guess mine was from my damn tonsils, lol. i've had one since last november. i just had my tonsils removed 2 weeks ago, and the node is already almost gone. as long as its not very hard and set in one place, and growing, you should be ok. thats what my doctors told me.
