Does anyone know of a reliable cholesterol home test kit? I checked in consumer reports and they say that the tests that test for cholesterol and it's various components (HDL, LDL, triglycerides, etc.) are not reliable. The ones that are reliable give a reading for total cholesterol, but nothing more. Anyone know more about this?

I use the CardioChek. It's not cheap ($220 for instrument and test kit strips), but it's reliable and test Total, HDL and Trigs as well as blood glucose. I can't post a source, but do a web search and you'll find a vendor and more info.

Phew! wonder why it's so expensive when it costs $30.00-$40.00 to have it done at the hospital. Wow! At that price, I don't think I'll be using it...unless you get more than one test with the kit???

The tests they run for my cholesterol are around 200.00 every time!! I have found a cholesterol testing machine by Life Stream, I believe, that is around 100.00. I do not know about its accuracy, but you can buy extra strips for continued testing.
