I know they detect Cervical cancer and stuff, but do they detect any STDs?
What about the other tests they run on a regular annual?

While a Pap smear can detect cell changes that might indicate an infection, and can sometimes pick up an STD, it isn't a test for STDs. You would need to have separate tests run for that.

I've never gotten any other tests run on a regular gynecological checkup, except for my last exam, where they combined the Pap with a high risk HPV test. This is the new way of doing Pap smears. A negative result on both tests means your chances of getting cervical cancer are less than 1%. Anyway, I suppose what tests they order depends on your sexual and medical history, what you ask for, and where you go. For instance, a 60-yr-old woman in a monogamous marriage for 40 years isn't going to be routinely screened for gonorrhea and chlamydia.
