Wow, am I feeling the effect from abruptly coming off 50 mgs of Paxil Cr. I stopped taking it last Wednesday and man am I sick. My head sometimes feels very spacey and I feel like I have the flu. Anyone have this happen to them after coming off Paxil Cr? For anyone out there that was on this medication, what is the best way to come off it without the withdrawals?
Take a look at the above withdrawal guide. Also, if you read thru my Effexor withdrawal thread, there's a lot of info there too. You've come off very, very quickly, and I'm actually surprised that you're not suffering more serious symptoms - consider yourself very lucky! If you go to any search engine and just type in "Paxil withdrawal" or "discontinuation" you'll find more info than you ever wanted!!!!
Paxil and Effexor are the two worst culprits for producing terrible w/drawal.

I went back on 25 mgs until the Dr can wean me off this stuff. I have yet to hear from him but hopefully he will call me today sometime. I will never, ever go back on these meds again, nasty stuff.

Nasty stuff, no kidding!!!
Are you feeling better at 25mg? Stay on it until you feel very stable, and then decrease very slowly (probably slower than your Dr's going to recommend). Are you aware, also, that there's a liquid version of Paxil available? This is great, as you can wean off in exact measurements, and adjust your dose according to your symptoms.
Good Luck. Stay in touch.

Yeah, I am still waiting to hear from the Dr or the very least his nurse and so far have not heard anything. This drug may be great for people but if I had known it would do this to my body when trying to get off it there is no way I would have agreed to take this stuff. The 25 mgs seem to help me for a half a day but by the afternoon I start getting those withdrawals again. Thanks for your support.

You'd probably feel much better if you cut the 50mg in quarters and take 3/4 at a time, instead of 1/2. Stay at that dose for a week (or longer if necessary) - see how you feel, and then cut back by another 1/4. And so on.
Basically, the smaller the increment you reduce by, the less severe the symptoms.
Keep us informed as to what your Doc has to say. Here's hoping, with all the recent publicity, he'll know better than to deny that what you're going thru is w/drawal. Hang in!

OK, finally got word from the Drs office so I hope this works. Since I went back on the 25 mgs, I stop that tomorrow and take 12.5 for two weeks and then on the last day I take my last 12.5, I will take a 90 mg of prozac weekly and I will do that one more week then quit. Man, I sure hope that works, any suggestions from anyone?

The Prozac method is also one recommended way to taper off from Paxil. The theory behind this is because Prozac has the longest half life of the SSRI's. (Paxil and Effexor have the shortest). Half life means how long it takes for half of the drug to flush through the system. The longer the half life, the longer the drug stays in the system, thereby causing less severe withdrawal problems.
I personally haven't gone this route myself, so can't add any personal comments.
Keep in touch, I'm interested to see how this works for you. Just a thought, if all's going well, maybe try and taper off the Prozac at the end too, instead of just stopping. Just to be safe.
Keep posting, and good luck, I really hope this gives you some relief.

Well the only problem with that is, they gave me the once weekly prozac and only gave me the one capsule so after that I am finished.
