Hi, I have been having pain in my tail bone, especially at night. feels like a tooth ache and keeps me from sleeping. also my feet have been bothering me, I thought is was fallen arches from walking so much but I think this is sciatic pain. Im no spring chicken (57) and have had lower back pain forever but never in my tailbone area. does anyone know what will help this. I spent most of yesterday with a heating pad on and taking aleve.
thanks

Hello http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif Sue,
What you are describing does not sound like sciatica. Here are the symptoms:
Sciatic Symptoms
Usually sciatica affects one side of the body. The pain may be dull, sharp, burning, or accompanied by intermittent shocks of shooting pain beginning in the buttock traveling downward into the back or side of the thigh and/or leg. Sciatica then extends below the knee and may be felt in the feet. Sometimes symptoms include tingling and numbness. Sitting and trying to stand up may be painful and difficult. Coughing and sneezing can intensify the pain.
What your symptoms do sound like is Coccydynia also known as Coccygodynia. If you never heard of this I suggest that you do a web search as you may relate to some of the symptoms as their are many.
Good Luck and Have a good night.

Dear suej1946
I read your posting concerning your pain around your tail bone. I have had and still do have a syatic verve pain but from what little you desribe I would say you have what is known as a Polunidial Syst. ( Not sure I spelled that right ) It is a common type of syst that raps its self around your tail bone area and ussaly requires surgery. It is not a big deal amd you can probly go home the same day. It doesent invole any of your spine or bones but 90% of the time it will just get worse with time and will be that much more they got to cut away if you wait.
Good Luck
Mike

Gee that sounds scary!! My doc told me its probibly
a herniated disc and to have an mri.
The pain is worse now and in my lower back as well.
Just sitting here right now about kills me!!
I do have a cyst on my upper back that I am having removed on Monday. But the doc says that is not what is causing all this pain. Oh Its always something I tell ya!!!!!
