Hello,

I was drunk last night and with some egging on by my "friends", I had sex with an escort.

I feel extreme guilt, sadness, and fear.

The good news is protection was used throughout the process.

The part that concerns me is that when I withdrew, I noticed that the condom was half way off. I'm not sure if that happened due to me pulling out without having the base of the condom secure, or if it was halfway off the whole time.

The bottom line is that the head, foreskin was all protected. The only part that MAY have been exposed is the base of the penis.

My questions are:

1.) I realize stds are spread easier via mucous membranes and soft tissue etc. Is there a less of a chance of catching something if the base was exposed vs the whole thing? I would assume so since the skin is more like regular skin vs. tissue (foreskin area).

2.) I definitely want to get tested, how long should I wait?

3.) I know blood test are required for hiv etc. But I know there's an option of a urethral swab or urine test for gonnorhea. Is there a difference in effectiveness? Do most people offer an option? I would prefer not to have the swab and just take the urine test.

Thanks for helping me out ahead of time. I'm pretty damn scared right now, and I sure as hell won't do this anymore.

get tested now for some STD's.

get tested 6 mo. from now for HIV.

u can get an STD through the base of ur penis, though it'd be something along the lines of genital warts, etc.

A condom only protects what it covers. You can still get an STD like warts or herpes on uncovered skin. Since you used a condom, you were probably protected against some STDs but not others.

I don't know if men are routinely offered a choice between a urethral swab and a urine test. Both are said to be effective to render a diagnosis. It may depend on where you go and what the doctor prefers.

By the way, there is no test for HPV (genital warts) for men unless you actually have warts present. But you could still have the virus and develop warts years later, or infect future partners.

Good luck!

Thanks, that does help. I am really worried about HIV above all others.

I'm hoping that since the top 1/2 to 3/4 was covered, that is good enough protection from that.

This has been eating at me all day. I still can't believe I did that.

Thanks for the replies so far.

The chances of having contracted HIV from that encounter are remote. Do get tested at the appropriate time, but I don't think you have too much to worry about :)

Props to you for being man about it, might I suggest refraining from any other sexual activity at least until you get the 6 month tests. It would only be fair to others.

God's Blessings and you will be in my prayers tonight.

For the most part I really do not think you have to be concerned about HIV at all...there is so many variables that go in to contracting the virus that even if you were not wearing a condom your risk of getting it are extremely slim. It is possible to get some others STD's with protection, but again it is less likely that you will since you were protected. None the less get tested to ease your mind, and also learn from this experience.

thanks for all the replies. I will get tested, and in the meantime, maybe I can rest a little bit better. I'm a paranoid person by nature, so this is hell.

I felt like such a loser today, seeing all the people I know. I kept thinking that they would think I'm such an idiot for doing that.
