:confused:

Hi all~~ Just to let you know,,,Ive been taking wellbutrin for a few months now..(200 mgr). I havent noticed any change in my moods. anywho today I felt really "detached" I couldnt make a simple decision,,I just wanted to go to sleep!

Also im very restless,,I tried to sit through a movie,,I must have gotten up 10 times! :nono:

I want to go to my dr. & tell him im really sad,,& i feel horrid. He doesnt believe in taking Anti-depresants, & im sure he will lecture me as usual. :rolleyes:
I dont know what to tell him. I havent been this depresed in a long time, I dont know what to ask for? Ativan?, Lexepro, Paxil?
~~~~~~~~~~ I was on Celexa, but i stopped b/c it killed my sex drive. Ive posted about that before.
But right now,,I dont even CARE about sex..I just want to feel human~
Thanks for listening....It helps..lol
:p
sounds like some depresonalization going on with it being side effect of what your taking - the doctor works for you - fire him if you have too - let him know your not going to stay on something when hes not inside you head to feel the feel and all he goes by is what the drug companies give him to read about their products (if he even bothers to read) and most doctors spend little time reading because they don't have time - (to busy giving selves fat wallets) - if this med is not working tell him you want change and quick and if your next drug dont work tell him you want another change - and if he is right then you will tell him so but if hes wrong you will also tell him so.. and right now he's not helping you - and your left to trying to help yourself and you depressed and down and not dead yet and this is how it will be with you - your going to keep trying to find something that at least if nothing else keeps you even and doesn't add to your miseries as they are. my own experience is that I have down loaded stuff from good sources on internet and stuff still did not get read - and when you try to tell doctors they pooh pooh it either because their ego will not allow them to gain education from patient or because they themselves have read something just like we all have read something and it clicks with our own outlook - but when that becomes the case it dont mean the doctor is anymore right than you the patient - the bottom line is he works for you - not you for him. Cause him some stress next time you talk to him - make him feel unpleasant when your in his or her face - disrupt his or her day - sad fact this get quicker results than being polite in many cases.
i was taking wellbutrin for about a year (300 mg a day) and I began having the same exact symptoms as you are describing, so i stopped taking it after telling my psychiatrist. Then about 2 months later, i began taking it again and suffered a grand mal seizure while at a concert after being on for another couple weeks.
Please do yourself a favor and stop taking it if you continue having these feelings....
these medications are powerful (as i found out the hard way) and 'not feeling right' is definitely not a good sign.
Zoloft seemed to help relieve the gloom for a while, but it made me really tired all the time so i stopped that as well.
Best of luck to you
:) Thanks so much 4 the replys! it really cheered me up.
Is there any A/D that DOESENT cause "de-personalization"? this side effect happened when i was on Celexa as well~
Are anti-anxiety meds the SAME as anti-depresants? Ive always wondered that.. :confused:
You are so right about dr.'s..they DONT know everything,,in fact Most times i go,,,im the one that suggests the Kind of meds!
He had to look up "Wellbutrin " in the PDR..he didnt even know what doseage to give me..(thats not the first time) :(
~~
Just thinking of seeing him is causing me stress~~ :rolleyes:
remeron worked well for me when others did not - but could only take for 5 months - messed up my cholesterol and I gained 30 lbs - I lost all the weight once off (plus 6 to grow on) but cholesterol is still in crapper probably from seroquel - which also worked good to keep me even in the day - but now I have to say good bye to it too - romper stomper vomper vu - whats next? I have open eyes in anticipation of the joys yet to be discovered at the wrong end of a bad dose.. so if your cholesterol or weight is not an issue both of these worked well for me (remeron and seroquel ) except they would cause me to die many years earlier from a heart attack than I have planned. I have a fussy tolerance - zoloft sent me to the hospital and paxil gave me adverse reactions - doxepin gave me gerd and acid reflux and topamax depersonalized me and trazadone worked for six weeks then a major panic attack - amtriptyline and perphenazine gave me tardive to where I was biting my tongue in my sleep and waking up swallowing blood - and lorazapam lost interest is me after 6 years - klonopin has worked very well for me - and I like it alot - the search continues for something to keep me even with out wacking something else out..
Enoch,,it sounds like you have been through alot~
My mum was on Klonipin,,I never asked her if it helped~ :( Is this the same as Lexapro?
Mum died 2 yrs ago,,& ever since i just seem to "Not care" about my looks,,I have gained 10 lbs,& feel sloth-like~ I know i need to get off my a$$,,but how do i get the motivation? I feel like i should get a PT job & contribute to the family income. Hubby says its not nessasary, but I feel the need to be with people b/c if i dont i will become a recluse. Son is a teen now & can handle himself. No need 4 me to be here allways~
BUT,,at the same time I am AFRAID,,(social anxiety) This is why Im looking into A/D. I have tried the remeron,,It turned me into a zombie..lol..NOT good~
Im gonna do some reserch on somemore meds~
Have a good one~~
Have you considered options other than drugs? Such as Sam-E for instance? Or Omega 3? What about exercise or cognitive behavioural therapy, or yoga or ... etc ... etc? There are a lot of alternative options worth trying before deciding to take your chances with drug experimentation.
Just a thought from a very tired and jaded "anti-drugger"!
Good luck, hope you start feeling better soon. :angel:
klonopin is useful in treatment of epilepsy - this is what it number one use is yet they have found it has usefulness of about 4 to 6 months for epilepsy and then those people are put on tegretol or some other more powerful drug for their condition - in the meantime klonopin has been useful for those sufferning with panic attacks - it works by means of building up in your blood and stopping panic attacks in than manner - rather than people who carry ativan or xanax around and put pill under tongue when they feel panic attack coming on - klonopin is for those who register that they have a panic attack disorder and know its a constant and will not go away and do not mess around taking a pill and worrying they will become addicted to a benzo - people who don't care about the fact they have to take meds and stay on meds and are eager to follow the drug regiment without hesitation because it means no panic attacks as long as your on med. my only social anxiety has been when I was feeling panic like feelings - other than that I worked for 27 years is some rough places with people - illness different for us all sonic - so I would recomment that if you have social anxiety and given you mom was on it you might request a chance to try it - say at .5mg twice daily - is is somewhat sedating - but not as bad as xanax - and of course ativan (lorazapam) only in blood for 4 hours - and is ususally starter benzo when going that route - but with klon once its in you blood you won't notice the sedation as much - I agree with you about remeron it would make me sleep 12 hours at a time - I miss those vivid dreams though.. yes read up and educate yourself and then try different things - I not only have clinical depression I also have bi polar 2 depression = so when they was treating me with anti depressants this was causing the bi polar to flare up - (mood swings and agression) so once I leaned about how anti depression meds not good for bi polar folks I stopped taking them forever and life has been better just sticking to anti psychotic meds at lower doses than given to schizoprenic folks.. if there is no history of heart problems in your family I would say seroquel might help you at very low dose it is also sedating but not like remeron and after it builds up in you blood you would notice it less too.. maybe take 50mg at night before bed - in comparison those that are schizophrenic are taking this med to the tune of 800mgs per day...
about work - I would think if it was helpful to you condition you must explain it to hubby that you need to do for yourself to feel more mentally healthy to interact with others and give something of yourself to them - if man is keeping you from doing things like that its a control issue he has - needs to work through it and set you free to live and feel things you need in your life instead of just revolving around him and kids - you perhaps need more that just that for self validation and self esteem things in you - you surely could find some nice part time work where you could see how you feel doing - and go from there.. you won't know unless you give things a try what will give you meaning in life - good luck
Thanks ,,youve given me lots to consider...
First off,,i have seen a therapist in the past,,we didnt "click"..& I have no interest in seeing another one.
a few yrs ago,,I was really into the yoga,,I was in good shape & felt great, but then when mum died Everything went to he#@. I use to take Tons of multi-vitamins,,& omega-3,,I dont think the omega helped,,its hard to say~
But what is Sam-E?
So im thinking i should ask for ativan..or elavil?,,or maybe even Xanex~~ :(
This way i wouldnt have to take them evryday,,just
when needed~
I think I need to get ALL this crap out of my system~
Enoch, i use to date a guy with bi-polar,,It was like jeckle & Hyde,,i dont know what he was taking at the time,,but it was ALOT of meds~ & when he was in a good mood,,he was the NICEST guy in the world.
Take care~~
I was on Klonapin for three years, it did help with panic attacks and mood swings. But it is addictive and I tried to get off of it several times in those three years. Each time, I suffered withdrawal symptoms that were horrible. I never want to go thru that again, so I will not ever go on it again. That is just my personal feelings about Klonapin. I just thought I would make sure you know that if you take it longer than three weeks and stop it without tappering off you will have withdrawals. The nurse practictioner that put me on it did not tell me it was addictive, I found out after a month when I started reading about it. Stopping this drug cold turkey can be very dangerous and life threantening.
I am taking Wellbutrin and feel kind of detached myself the last few days. I am considering going the natural rounte, SAMe and omega three, vitamin B. I hate the side effects of most of the a/d i have tried.
Good luck .
I asked about ativan,,he saaid it was highly addictive,,so i passed on that. :(
:wave: Hi Sonic, I saw your message and thought I would let you know I recently tried the SAMe and although it helped with my moods, it gave me panic attacks and horrendous headaches and nausea. Just about everything you take, even natural stuff has side effects so be careful. Read up on it and take a low dose first if you choose to try it. It may work for you. But it didn't for me.
ativan highly addictive? I was on it for six plus years at .5 three times dailly -and when I quit it I quit in one day - and suffered no side effects - ativan is the the minor league player of all the benzo's - at .5 it stays in you blood system about 4 hours - its is only highly addictive if like other benzo's your eating it like m&m's - at the minor dose usually given for panic attacks it is rare that you would become addicted to it - of course we are all different but I would like to tell your doctor that after six plus years for me quitting it presented not one problem for me. he would be able to verify this himself through the VA that keeps good records of the drugs they give out.. (if I signed a release of information for him) - go with your original thoughts and dont' count on meeting too many doctors that know much about anything besides expensive cars and big houses.. once out of med school they taper off on hitting the books - unless they are writing one. lol
