I have been reading this board for a while, and have found some very interesting information. I now have a problem of my own and was wondering if someone could give me some input on it.

About 6 weeks ago, I noticed mucus in my stool. I told my gastro Dr. and he sent me to give a stool sample. The sample came back negative for everything and after speaking with my Dr., he told me that it was probably an infection that would work itself out in a week or so. Low and behold, a week went by and it was over. Since that time, I haven't had 1 solid BM. There hasn't been any diarrhea, but just soft stool and no mucus at all. I have gas pains at weird times, not around meals. I am not normally like this at all. It has been one month now, and I finally returned to my Dr.. He believes, eventhough the sample came back negative, that it is a parasite. He told me that it is 80% IBS, 19% parasite or 1% colitis. I am going to start flagyl tomorrow, something I tried once before in my life 9 years ago. It is the most horrible of all drugs. Can someone give me their input on this as it is driving me berserk. Thanks.

Richard
