View Full Version : "sensorimotor" therapy?

Could one broad source of depression be the "irritation" of the conscious mind by unresolved trauma imprints?

The "Alice Miller Finding" is that "normal" child-rearing practices traumatize.

So, society is filled with unresolved trauma imprints.

A new technique of trauma treatment is "sensorimotor" therapy. A key component is "inner body sensing".

I would like to study/experiment with i.b.s. technique in New York City.

I'd say you're probably way overanalyzing. Life is traumatic, not just being reared normally. Or even abnormally. It's not so much the trauma that causes it, though that IS a factor obviously, but it's the straw-that-broke-the-camel's-back syndrome. What is a given person's tolerance for abuse and how is that handled? Whether the pile is heaped on slowly over a half-century or a ton of it at once in a single day, the actual weight is the same, right? For a normal person, pre-depression, I'd go with the US Marine creedo of, "Identify, Adapt, Overcome". We spend our busy lives ignoring the onslaught and eventually pay the price for it. Paying attention and recognizing but not whining about a situation would be a bonus. Being too sensitive to ourselves can be as destructive as just ignoring it all. Myself, I'd forget the theories and simply try and fix what is broken. FWIW. -Rod-
