So, I call today to see about getting my meds refilled after losing them on the 5th and find out that my doc is out of town for another week. OK I learned my lesson...never, never, never take all of your meds on vacation and guard them like a pitbull when you go! I promise I'll be perfect from now on. Sorry.
Now, I wait and see how the doc who's covering feels after reading my chart.
They're usually very nice. We've been seeing this group of doctors at least once a month for 7years so they know my whole family well.
I just can't stop coughing today and that just makes the pain worse and makes me vomit, too. Not my idea of a fun day.
On a more positive note...I think I'll ask my pm doc if he can point me in the direction of a pulmonologist who's not affiliated with anyone I've already seen. Outside opinion. (the lung doc I saw before was in the same 'group' as my gp and I didn't like him) Maybe a fresh set of eyes could see something else. My pm has said many times...'well, the pulmonologist would know more about that and he didn't say... so...???' (I have pain in my lung after pneumonia 18months ago)
What do you guys think? Am I grasping at straws? I just want to give away more of my money so they can tell me they don't know what's wrong.LOL
Thanks again for listening to me ramble on and on. Hope everyone's feeling ok today and that those of you in Fla are safe and without damage to clean up.-Mush

Just make sure it doesn't look like you're doc shopping for meds... That's the last thing you need on top of not having meds for a week!

Thats probably the first thing the doc. is going to think,[not believe you] but if you have a good relationship with him[her] maybe it won't be any trouble at all.About a year ago,i had just filled a perscription of lortab[60] and i went into the mall, when i came out,my med. were gone, along with a leather jacket, and all my cd's! But i did file a police report, and the next day i called the doc. office and told them, they wrote out another script. for me,but the nurse i talked to at the time seemed like she didn't believe me,and asked me if i filed a police report. Also,i had to pay for them out of my own pocket,i didn't want to wait days for the insurance co. to ok it.

Luckily, I even spoke the one receptionist who has stayed there for the past seven years and is the nicest lady. Seems like the rest of the staff rotates monthly. It shouldn't look like I'm doctor shopping because I called to talk to my regular doc and she's on vacation. It just depends on how the doc who's covering feels about it all and I don't have a clue. I've never seen any other doctor but my own. Thanks for listening. -Mush(I'm a girl :D )

This is good.
The nurse called me back and said that the doc wrote me a perscription for my percocet but I can't fill it until the 20th. I asked if they could give me a few more vicodin because I'm out and feeling crummy. So she asks the doc and she says no because I still have my oxy. What a big misunderstanding! They thought this whole time that I had only lost my bt meds and was calling for more. I'm sure she really doesn't believe me now. It's a prime example of miscommunication because I know when I called the first time I told the recptionist that I had lost everything. I wouldn't have called if I had only lost my bt meds! ARGH! Now I look bad.(worse than usual!)

mush3 peaple do lose there med,or they get stolen, but more so,peaple say they lost there med. or they got stolen, because there abusers. And when it happens to someone who is telling the truth,it doesn't matter.Did you have to sign a opiod contract! I wouldn't be suprised if in the future, you get a call during the middle of the month, asking to bring your med. in,even though your telling the truth. They may even put this in your chart. They may also take into consideration, this has never happened before, you never called for early refills etc. it could go either way.Good luck, and the bottom line is,peaple do lose,or get there med. stolen from them,it happens
