My Pain Management Doc is recommending a rhizotomy in the sacroiliac and L5/6 S1 facet areas. After testing with injections we have found that those sites are a major cause of my pain..not the only unfortunately. I am unable to take steroids since I am a diabetic, so a rhizotomy seems to be the way to go. I was wondering if anyone has had the procedure and what it was like and their out come..

SEATTLESHY,
Please research the Rhizotomy !!!! They are
basically burning the nerves so they do not send pain signals. These nerves are there for a reason, and if you burn them it can cause severe problems. I dont know how familiar you are with the nervous system, but if you arent please talk to someone about it, like a nuerologist. They have offered this to me and I refused to do it. I was told by my PM Dr. that I can control the pain with exercise and that is what I am choosing to do instead.
