View Full Version : Ovarian Cysts Again or Worse?

For over one year now, I’ve been having ovarian cysts, functional in nature, that appear, and then dissolve.

Symptoms: Lower/upper back pain, shortness of breath, ovarian pain, pelvic fullness, frequent urination, fatigue.

The symptoms vary each time another cyst appears. They’re always quite small, so I’m always alarmed when I’m hit with all these symptoms for such small cysts.

I’ve been given numerous transvaginal ultrasounds, had a few CA 125 tests done, all coming back normal, except for the cyst(s). I also had a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis a few months ago. This was also normal.

Now the question. My symptoms are back again and I had felt fine for over two months straight! Can small cysts cause so many symptoms? Do you think the doctors have done all the proper tests for my symptoms? I’m worried once again about ovarian cancer. Can the doctors/tests be wrong and there is cancer there but not seen by the tests they’ve done?

I’m actually making myself sick thinking the worst.

Thanks for your comments!

My sister was diagnosed with 2 small cysts one on each ovary.

She too had several symptoms, just like yours. I guess everyone's bodies react differently.

I was just diagnosed with a large 6cm size cyst on my left ovary. I too am having tests done and I go back in Sept.

I too am nervous. I have been on the pill for years and the pill is suppose to stop cysts from forming.

It is very scary.....Us women deal with so many problems. Men have it lucky !!

Thanks for your comments, djl. I am set for another ultrasound later this week to see what's up. I think you're right with the statement that "everyone's bodies react differently." My acts up at the slightest disturbance, it seems.

Take care and good luck to you with your cyst issue.

Hi, djl:

You still out there? It's been a few months since your last post. I'm going in for yet another ultrasound tomorrow. This time, pain on left ovary. I seem to get cysts that come and go with varying symptoms. This time horrible lower back pain and a "pinching" feeling on my left ovary. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I think since I'm in this perimenopausal stage (I'm 45), this may come and go until menopause...joy!

How are you doing? I've started seeing a chriopractor for my overall health and will see if this in any way affects things. I can honestly say I only have the back pain and ovarian pain this time around...no nausea, diarrhea, bloating, etc.

Take care.

well not sure this will help anyone..
i have just found out that i have two cysts..one on the right is called a simple cyst and it is 1.8cm and one on the left with is complex and much larger.. 4.5cm..NOW i have no pain really on the left side..just during intercourse.. the right side screams at me all day long.. so that makes no sense.. because they are not worried about that side.
i have to go back for the left in a few weeks..a second ultrasound is ordered..
my doctor says this is urgent. now. i do have constant abdomianl distention.. lower achy and lower back ach. i suffer from fatique.(but i do have other health issues) and irregular periods.
I had been to an immunologist that said OH it is perimenopause.. was he wrong.. my hormone levels are fine. so now i sit and wait and i am worried.. they say that ovaran cancer is silent for a reason.. and scares me more..

Hi Busymommy

So you have another cyst?? Let me know what happens with the Ultrasound.

Yep...still here.... As you know I had that 6cm cyst on my left ovary, that eventualy went away, then had a cluster of small cysts on my left ovary. I also was sent for a CT scan that came back normal. I also saw a Gastro Doctor who ran a bunch of Gastro Blood work that all came back normal. He also did a CA 125 and that was normal.
I actualy was supposed to go for a colonoscopy about 2 weeks ago, but had severe lower right pain. Saw my GP, she sent me for another Transvaginal and I now have a 7cm cyst on my right ovary. Never made it to the colonoscopy. I feel like my ovaries are playing ping pong with each other and the cyst just keeps getting bigger.

I am on pain killers now, and my OB changed my BC Pill. I also have to see an Endocrinologist. I have an appointment in a few weeks. I am also going for another Transvaginal in 4 weeks. The doctors feel that I have PCOS.

I have the lower abdominal pain, lower back pain, nausea, diahreah excetra....what fun !! I may have to see my OB today. Having a rough time of it and spoke to my OB yesturday. He has me bed ridden right now and told me to call him again today. I was told 2 weeks ago that there is a good possibility that I will need surgery this time. I am trying to prevent it, but at this point they have my absolute approval to take these ovaries out!!! Tired of this!!

So you are pre-menapausal?? Is it normal to have cysts at that time in your life?? You have been going through this for a year?? MY GOD HOW CAN YOU TAKE IT !!! I feel like my hormones are in a uproar..I feel like the excersist !!hehehehe
Let me know what happens with your Transvaginal!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!

I am experiencing pelvic pain and fatique. I was not sure if it was my ovaries or my fibroids.
