View Full Version : Blood pressure spiking again

I'm so frustrated.

I thought my blood pressure was getting under control with the increase in meds, but today it's spiking again. The last time it did this, my doc did lots of blood work, and that lovely 24 hr urine test. All came back fine.

My readings were in the 120s/ high 80s. The past couple of days they are creeping up again - today the are in the 150s/ high 90s.

My meds have been 20 mg furosemide in the morning, with 25 mg Toprol XL at 3PM. When I called the doc today, he wants me to take 25 mg of Toprol both in the morning and in the afternoon, and also wants to see me on Thursday.

Any thoughts? Should I be requesting further tests? Is it normal to still be seeing spikes like this in the first couple of months on meds?

It's funny I thought about you the other day...was wondering how everything was going. I too have all the sudden had hugh spikes in my BP. Rangeing on average 148/100 158/108 I upped my meds a bit today and my BP is down but my heart rate is up there at about 100. Not fun. Did you ever request imaging of you adrenals, and kidneys? I'd ask if you haven't already. Just to rule it out. I'm sorry your not feeling well. Hopefully they will get to the bottom of it all soon. Take care, lisa
