I am in the first application process of SSDI. I have 3 years of MD (family Dr) records for treatment of depression, OCD and anxiety. I have been seeing a therapist for over a month now and the pdoc has officially diagnosed me with bipolar, OCD and anxiety. I have been a total of 6 times to the therapist and changed twice inside the office because I can't get along with them. Is it important for me to see the therapist or can I just forget therapy and just deal with the pdoc for medication management? I want to help my case but I can't mentally handle the therapy sessions. I love my pdoc but not the therapist.

Thanks in advance.

THe disability process is very much driven by your medical records. Generally speaking your case would be better off with more treatment rather than less. I would strongly recommend that you discuss your problems about the therapists with your psychologist (psychiatrist) as well as the therapist themselves. So yes, I would say that therapy is important to your case. If after discussing the issue thoroughly with both the therapist and your doc, I would recommend that you follow your doc's advice in the matter.
