My palat argues with my stomach. My stomach argues with my intestines. My feet argue with my legs. My legs argue with my hips. My low food intake argues with my back. A cure for this creates a new problem for that. I'm 59 years old.
I'm posting this under cholesterol because lowering it is my primary goal.
My blood pressure has always been perfect. Was perfect 6 months ago. It was 150 / 68 two weeks ago so I paniced.
I went to the doctor yesterday for the follow up on my cholesterol. It's through the roof. The meds I took for it before (we tried 3 different ones) all made me sick to my stomach so I quit them (over a year ago). He told me to get Red yeast Rice + CoQ10 and also Omega-3 fish oil. He had me take the fish oil before and it made me sick. He insisted it could NOT! Well, I been 'runnen to the pot' for the past 3 hours. I still feel like I am going to vomit as well. I can taste that fish in each burp.
I eat very little, less then 1500 calories a day and spread it out as one meal and 3 snacks (because my back aches if I don't eat every few hours) . I eat healthy. I've never drank coffee or alcohol or smoked. My only vise is a morning donut or cinnamon roll. ( I need the sugar kick or I get blurred vision. Was tested and could not find the cause) I walk 1 -2 miles a day. I keep gaining weight; about 1/2 a pound a month for the past 5 years. (not thyroid) Yet, if I begin to lose weight at a rate more then 2 pounds a month, my lower back gives out and I become bed ridden. Yes, my body is weird and my doctor thinks I'm a nut case!!
Can anyone else relate to any of this??

I can't take the fish oil either because of the nasty fish burps Carol are you able to exercise? A 30 to 40 minute brisk walk should help you lose weight with the amount of calories you are taking in. It would also help improve those #'s that are through the roof. If you can't take statins why not try niacin?

I walk 1 to 2 miles every day. My dogs insist on it.
I had a small bowl of rice for breakfast with the Red yeast Rice + CoQ10 and Omega-3 fish oil. I also take a vitamin and Oscal+D (and have been for several years with no problems from them). Breakfast was 2 hours ago and my stomach is really churning. Rice has proven to be my safest food so know it is not causing the churning.
Thanks for letting me know you can't handle the fish oil either. My doctor can be very narrow minded sometimes.

Yeah..I'm 46. Same thing actually.... I've been trying to lower weight for over a year and I am now 6 pounds from my goal..but its taken forever. I walk/run 4 miles a day...sometimes more. I work out with weights.
My blood pressure like yours has always been excellent.. then one day I had it taken and it was 150/90...I almost stroked out right there! Ran to the doctor and he said its all from anxiety and panic.
So I went on zoloft for the anxiety.... dropped the blood pressure back to the normal range.....then had my cholesterol checked. It was 235...so doctor told me I needed meds immediately.
I panicked and said NO WAY so put myself on a super duper strict diet. BIG MISTAKE.....
The BP went up again..last reading was 148/77... I'm scared to take it again. My stomach is churning too.
I have to increase my running to get rid of the churning. I was also taking supplements and stuff like cholestoff and using Benecol instead of margarine. I am running to the bathroom 4 times a day...anxiety is out the window.
I have an appointment today with the doctor.
Who knows whats wrong now...but the cholesterol-lowering diet really threw me. I was even seeing a dietician and she told me to go back to the way I was eating before because it was too drastic of a change.
I can't stand getting older.

There is a website that sells vitamins that has their own brand - NSI is the brand (can't post the site). Anyway, they make a fish oil that smells/tastes like berries. I never had problems with the fish burping with this brand. I also read a little book about vitamins and supplements that suggested taking them in between bites of food during meals. It is supposed to help with absorption, and the burping problem associated with fish oil.
