View Full Version : I might have FMS but I have CMP too

Or do I? I bought this book about FMS, CMP and trigger points. After reading through the book it seems that I have CMP more than FMS. Anyway I tried the technique with the tennis ball, pushing on all of my "trigger points", holding and then compressing. Well other than the fact that I think I may have pushed to hard in some places, I feel almost human today. I doubt that after being in a flare for two months and having such extreme pain that it just went away on it's own overnight. Gone is the severe pain in my back, my legs, my shoulder and my foot. The only thing still bothering me today is my arm and elbow which I didn't really work on. I feel calm today, not all tensed up. It hurt like crazy doing this and I didn't think I'd make it through it, but it was worth it today. I'm going to continue trying this and see what happens. At this point I doubt if it will hurt, I'm tired of waiting around for the Drs. to say let's try this pill.

Hi chris I also have both, guess from what I read they go hand and hand. I know what it feels like to go into the tigger point, ouch. I see a chiro every week and he does myoascal release on me, my pain level can be low and he finds those trigggers and goes into them I am howling. I get them in the bra strap area and will not let him go into them, that really hurts, I just massage the area. Last week he used an activator around my collar bone and that seemed to have helped. It looks like a big pen and he pushes the top, you only feel a little bump.

He told m if he had to have either FM or MPS he would opt for the FM, he thinks the MPS is a lot more painful.

GOOD LUCK with your therapy, Linda

Forgive me, but what does CMP stand for?

CMP stands for chronic myofascal pain syndrome. You get trigger points with this, FMS you get tender points. At least I think so. i am either in a FM fog or my allergies are bad, feel like I am drunk and do not drink.

Could stand for chocolate, marshmellow and peanuts also, he, he.

Maybe someone else can give more insight.

LOL Linda, you're right, it's trigger points as opposed to tender points. Who cares, points = pain and we all have pain. The trigger points actually cause the muscles to go into little knots all over the body, in turn causing muscle spasms everywhere.
