hello. i just wanted to know what the best types and colors of makeup are for pale skin. (like ivory color i guess is what they call it). cuz i can't wear any makeup without it being sooo noticeable cuz my skin is so light. what looks best on fare skin???

also---my skin is very very very sensitive (it gets dry alot)---but then this is the weird thing---it is also oily---but since my skin is sensitive it's hard to find something that'll tolerate it and yet still keep it non-oily.

i have tried powder---but usually since my skin gets dry alot and flaky---it just isn't a good combination.
i have tried the liquid foundation---but it looks really noticable on me---and plus since my skin can't have anything oily or anything that will clog pores on it---so i dunno what to do.

any suggestion would be appriciated. thanx. :)

I currently graduated from cosmetology school and one of the things we had to learn is what colors (hair, make-up, clothing) looks good on who. It really doesn't matter (as much) about the color of your skin (but it does have some bearing on it). What matters most is your hair color, eye color, underlying pigment color, and so on. What color are your eyes, hair, do you have a slight pinkish undertone? I really couldn't tell you what colors unless i knew that general information. Some of the time pale people, look good in pastel colors and sometimes they don't. I have a medium level brown hair and i too am fair complected with pink undertones. My eyes are brown also. I can wear black (although some can't pull that off), i can wear red (b/c i have some faint red in my hair), i can wear navy, coral, etc. Let me know a little more, adn i might be able to help you out.

P.S. probably you will have to wear soft shades of peach, rose, taupe lipstick, but like I said, it depends on your underlying tone and hair color. We learned that Eye shadow is very universal, almost any colors will go with anything if you have the right things to pull it off (attitude, wardrobe, face shape). But what is very attractive on fair skin is nude colors. You want people to look at you adn say, "WOW, you look very pretty" adn not necessarily notice what it is about you that looks so good, although it's obvious its your makeup.

Here is a possibility for you. Go to the Prescriptives counter in a Dept. store. Get color printed. They will find your undertone whether it be yellow orange, red orange, red, or blue red. From there they will find your exact match of foundation in the many formula's that they carry. If they cannot find an exact match they will custom blend. The will make your foundation and/or powder from scratch. Whenever I have difficulty finding a match for someone I send them there. They also break down their colors in different color families as well. So you will always know what will look most natural or more dramatic. It is a really facinating process that maybe you should try out.

I agree with the thing about visiting the perscriptive counter. But a caution, they are one of the more expensive brands, but they focus on more skin safe makeup methods. what about trying a either a light blue eyeshadow, or a lavender shade. I like to use a brownish color blush, b/c it hides the red/pink in my cheeks. Try a pinkish brown (nude color) lipstick. apply it very lightly to your lips with some lip gloss. Try that. see how it works, but as far as matching color of base adn type of powder you would have to let someone see you and do it. I hope that helps some. Just play around some. You'll find something you like.

Next time you go to a department store, go to the Clinique counter and they will help you.

one of my favorite products has been just a translucent powder, I use bonne bell but it's got tea tree oil in it to prevent acne which can dry skin.

talk to the lady at the cosmetics counter at pharmaprix or the hudson's bay and she could likely help you out, they're trained to answer questions like these.

If you are going to buy a liquid foundation test it out on your hand (if you find you are between shades you could buy two shades and mix them, it works out very well) but look for 'non-comedogenic' which means it won't clog pores.
