Are there foods that should be avoided, besides coffee? :bouncing: Janice Sponsor Icefire 08-19-2004, 01:19 PM I really think that this is another thing that's probably different for everyone. I know someone with Fibro that can't touch even a taste of potatoes or she is in more pain. They says MSG and aspartame should be avoided. I do know that when I eat Chinese my pain is twice as bad. High levels of MSG? Dairy? Causes my allergies to act up. Who knows, do a search of foods to avoid and try it and see if it helps you any. Good Luck Chris taurus3 08-20-2004, 09:32 AM Hi Crafty, It does vary from person to person. Avoiding sugar seems to be important for most people. Also I avoid all artificial sweeteners except for the occasional saccarin in my iced tea if we go out to eat. But that's not just because of fibro. My grama told me back in the early 90's that aspartame was poison and based on all the research she was right, also the latest sucralose isn't any better, just clorinated sugar. Sugar that is turned into bleach so it has less calories. Another thing too is that I think many of us have a tendency towards being overweight. The artificial sweeteners make you leptin resistant which makes your body signal you to eat more because you're eating fake sugar. Mostly I find the more fresh food as apoosed to processed, frozen or boxed food the better I feel. Oh and I do have to skip the MSG too. Hope that helps a little. I was so excited when sucralose came out but after consuming some and feeling poorly I did more research. Good eating - Andy wishn 08-21-2004, 10:58 AM Good Morning Crafty! Where does your name come from? Tell us about it ( : For me personally, soda is a def no no. When I drink soda, as sometimes I am still tempted :nono: to do, I suffer in pain, achy pain. I notice the higher intake of sweets since this fibro, the higher the pain levels. Since the fibro, also, spicy food kicks in IBS big time!! Hope this helps some what. Annie |
