Hi everybody http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif,

I'm new to the beauty board, I have been poking my nose around for a while and see that you all have great ideas. I am looking for something to help with stretch marks. I got a lot from my pregnancy and I want them to go away! I have tried creams but I think I was fooling myself into thinking they would work. I was a sucker. Is there anything out there that will help?

You may think this is strange because it will sound that way. Genetics again play a large role in whether you are prone to stretch marks or not, but you can help it from the very beginning when you discover you are pg is to apply a thin coat of Virgin Olive Oil at night and rub it thoroughly in(it does absorb)and during the day I used cocoa butter cream(Palmers)and it just worked for me, honest, I'm a grandmother now and I never had stretch marks on the belly but I did on my thighs which I never used it on, guess I didn't think I'd get any there. My 2 daughters both used the same and one did get some stretch marks and other didn't. It was handed down from the great grandmothers.

Mederma supposedly can be used to fade stretch marks. I've used it on scars and it works great on those, but I didn't use it for long on my stretch marks because it made the skin dry and peely and very, very itchy. And I have so many darn stretch marks it takes an awful lot of Mederma to cover them, and they sure ain't giving the stuff away.

You can greatly reduce the appearance of stretch marks if you do something while they are still red.
I got some after gaining alot of weight fast at the top of my legs. They were a couple inches long, and I had 4 of them. I used strech mark cream, it was some formula for preggy women. It had Cocoa butter in it.
I would put pure vit-E oil on first before bed, then I put on the stretch mark lotion over top of it.
It took about 2-3 months for it to fade to skin tone color. It's been 2 years now and it hasn't turned silvery or white looking...I can see where it was if I really look for it.

I got it at a 24 hour drug store with all the skin care potions and lotions. Try looking near the cocoa butter. If you can't find it, I'd try putting 100% pure cocoa butter first then put Vit-E on top of that.

Stretchmarks are there for life!
They do tend to fade to a kinda light almost white color.
Keep the skin moisturized and try to tighten up your muscles so the flesh will fill out again. They will always be there but you can make them less noticeable with the right approach.

Mine were all pregnancy (3 of them) induced. Belly, breasts, buttocks and upper back of thighs. Reducing my bodyfat level and strengthening my muscle gives me a smoother appearance.

I have no clue if this works yet or not. I read it on Ediets.com.....newsletter. It was written by their site dr. or specialist or something like that.
Anyhow, she said...
Mix one half teaspoon of vitamin c powder with contents of one vitamin a capsule.
2. rub in with fingers....massage
3.rinse and treat with cocoa butter.

I haven't tried this yet. I have tried a stretchmark cream...regentrol striae....or something like that. It has been six weeks now. Haven't seen any changes other than really soft skin.

Im just amazed at all the responses to this. I had my son 9 months ago and of course got stretch marks. I have been tanning and i find that my skin and stretch marks have a better texture and look. They have faded alot, so much that i wear a bikini and u cann't see the stretch marks. well unless u grab a microscope! I also use Emaerald Bay cocoa butter, it is a dark tanning balm with bronzer that makes your skin feel like silk. There really is no way to get them to disapear completely unless u want to pay for surgery. I know there is alot of suggestions on preventing stretch marks however it does'nt help much if u already have them. Good luck

Elicina claims to help with scars, acne, wrinkles and stretch marks. I've been using it on my face for a couple of weeks...pricey, but my skin does feel smoother. It is made mostly from snail slime. If I don't see continued improvement, I won't get it again...will keep you posted. Has anyone else tried Elicina? Please inform us all what you think k?

I have stretchmarks on my sides from when I was younger from growing very tall very fast and found that vitamin e oil would reduce the appearance of them and let them heal in but they are stretched skin, almost scar tissue, and when they're there they're there. The vitamin e oil managed to make mine fade to perfectly skin color (they even tan properly) but I can still feel them if I run my hands on the skin.

Hi Everyone,

I have lost weight and I have stretch marks on my breasts.I started tanning in a bed and then tan outside for a couple of hours a week. But I noticed that the tan does help mine. They are not deep stretch marks...but they are there. I am trying to build up my chest muscles so maybe my boobs will lift,(HOPEFULLY) and so decrease the stretch marks....

I put lotion on them all the time....and nothing has helped. I tried Oil of Olay on them last night. I figured if it is suppose to be good for your face then why not my boobies. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Anyone has a miracle cure let me know...

The vitamin E oil does work but it must be pure vitamin E oil or atleast that works best. It comes in little bottles and I know when you see it you will think GREAT I will have to buy one a week!! But it goes really far........
good luck ladys
