View Full Version : Unruly Eyebrows

I plucked my eyebrows the other day(I was trying to get more of an arch) and I think I overdid it. When I looked at myself in the mirror there seemed to be an awful lot of space between my eyebrows and my eyes (and my eyebrows look crooked http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif ) Does anyone know how big the space should be? I know there isn't a certain limit but the gap between my eye and eyebrow seem rather large but I don't know if thats just me. I want to get my eyebrows professionally done but I'm a little scared. How good are the pros? I know its their job but I'm still scared they'll mess up and make me look hideous. And one more thing, where do I go to get my eyebrows done? Some sort of salon? Pls help...

There are many measurements as to how you should shape your eyebrows. I found this information on iVillage:

In general, the beginning of the brow should be aligned with the center of the nostril below it and extend a bit past the outer corner of the eye. The arch should fall over the outside third of the eye. Tweezing too far in from the inner edge of the eyebrow will make your eyes look smaller; plucking too much from the bottom will make you look perpetually surprised. If you have doubts, leave the hair unplucked. Be sure to tweeze in the direction that the hair grows and pluck only one hair at a time.

Hope this helps!

Maddie,
Go to a salon and get them WAXED! It only stings for a minute and it only takes a minute and it is inexpensive~!

I agree that waxing is the easiest solution. Do you have a regular salon that you go to? If so, chances are all the girls there know how to wax eyebrows.

Take care!

OKAY
THIS IS A GENERAL RULE OF THUMB. TAKE A PENCIL HOLD IT TO THE RIGHT OF YOUR NOSE, LINE IT UP TO YOUR EYEBROW. PLUCK ANYTHING TO THE LEFT OF THE PENCIL INCLUDING WHERE THE PENCIL TOUCHES YOUR BROW. THEN DO THE LEFT SIDE AND PLUCK ANYTHING TO THE RIGHT. TO GET PERFECT CURVE IN YOUR BROW GET OUT A MAGAZINE. PICK OUT SOME BROWS, THEN TAKE A WHITE EYEPENCIL AND COLOR IN THE SPOTS U WANT TO PLUCK TO GIVE YOU THAT LOOK. TA-DA PERFECT BROWS!! i'VE DONE IT FOR YEARS ALSO COLORED THEM TO GO WITH MY HAIR COLOR AT THE TIME MAKES IT LOOK MORE NATURAL. GOOD LUCK

a good idea is to take a dark dark eyeliner pencil (or white like hula says) or eyebrow pencil and draw in the shape you want to pluck below your eyebrows (try to avoid plucking above except stray hairs it tends to look straggly more than anything)

that way you can get an idea of what it will look like before you pluck and there's less chance of it coming out crooked

if the lines are crooked pick your favorite and re-draw the other one

I agree, you need to get them professionally waxed. I've had a few people who didn't give me a look I liked, but it grows back quickly and when you find someone who does a look you like just stick with them. I've also found it helpful to show them a picture of a model who has brows you like and say make it look like that, especially if you have a preference about how thin or thick you like them. Another suggestion is to take a look at their own brows. Chances are they do their own so if they have high arched brows like Bozo the Clown you probably don't want them doing yours! If they look good then you know they have good taste in what a nicely arched brow should look like.

i had horrid eyebrows, wnt a little plucker crazy and they were small. I grew them out a little then went and had them waxed at my local Nail place they usually do it there. Now they look fabulous.

I went to a salon/spa and got my eyebrows waxed. I love the way they look when they're kept up. In fact I ended up going to a new salon because the girl who does mine moved to a new place, so I followed her. She's great! The technician who does it should be able to know what shape will look good with your face. At least that's what my girl does. If you go to a decent place, they (most likely) will take pride in their work and wouldn't want to make a mess of you any more than you'd want it. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/round.gif

i agree with everyone, just get them done at any salon. where i live it's 8-10 bucks. i don't think it matters how much space is left, i would think it matters more how thin the actual brow is.
