Hey all, I need some help.

I noticed back in May that I had teeenie tiny bumps right around my labia minora (inner lips). They're lighter than the rest of the skin, although not quite white, I guess. The rest of the skin is smooth, except for the normal bumps around the outside. I know only a doctor can diagnose this stuff, but until I can get in I was wondering if any of you girls or boys could tell me if this can be just a regular feature. I have no idea how long they've been there because I wasn't really looking for them.

Now here's my real question: Can hpv be transmitted by saliva ALONE? I'm not talking about oral sex. A guy used spit to lubricate things a little while he was touching me (did not touch his mouth while he did this). I have heard that hpv can be transmitted through oral sex because of the skin to skin contact, but it is not transmitted through kissing. So, is the virus carried in saliva or something else?

If y'all could respond quickly that would be awesome. I'm understandably pretty nervous.

edit: One of the other threads said something about Fordyce spots in girls - it sounds a like what she described, but does anyone have some more info? How common are they in women?

They might very well be Fordyce spots, and you are quite correct you need to see a doctor for a diagnosis. It would not be an indicated of HIV.

HIV can be passed via an exchange of body fluids, and saliva is a body fluid, though the mode of transmission you describe is rare. If you are concerned, ask your doctor for a test.

HIV isn't a concern at all in this case. I'm nearly sure that they're fordyce spots now, although I'll still be making sure to ask at my next dr's appt (it'll be soon, so I'm not letting things wait a long time). The more I think about it, the more I think that I've felt them there normally, but just haven't bothered looking.

Do you know if extra excercise or other stuff that can cause a lot of sweating might make them more noticible?
