I am a 35 y.o. stay at home mom to a ten month old and a three year old. I have mild (according to nerve conduction studies) bilateral cts. Cortisone shots didn't help so I am opting for the surgery- the mini-open procedure. My pre-op visit isn't until sept 14 and I have so many questions. My doctor only does one hand at a time. My kids will have to go to day care for at least 6 weeks. I don't want the surgery but I have had pain for almost a year and splints and nsaids don't really help. Does anyone have any advice for me?
I am interested in hearing from anyone who has had this surgery and your recovery time. Any input would be appreciated.

I've seen carpal tunnel disappear with fixing the hamstrings (yeah sounds wild, I know). I've also seen people go through the surgery and have no relief. There are chiropractors all over the world who are in the Total Body Modification network, and in that network they teach the technique for fixing hamstrings, which alleviates carpal tunnel syndrome.
I've seen it work. Sounds bizarre, but what I've found is very often you don't really have what you've got (meaning the symptoms simply mean that something is wrong, not necessarily in the area of the symptoms).

I know you are worried about your kids while you are recovering, but if you don't take care of yourself first then your kids won't have a mommy to take care of them. Kind of like the oxygen masks on an airplane. First put one on you then any children you may have. There is a reason for that.
Good luck with your surgery. If you need it to feel better. Do it. Your kids will be okay.

Thank you to all that replied to my post. I have decided to postpone my surgery until November. My pre op visit was scheduled 2 days before my surgery and that just wasn't enough time for me to decide if the benefits of the surgery are worth the risk. I have so many questions for my surgeon. There are also some daycare issues that I have to work out and my husband's work schedule is crazy in october. My cts is not severe so I think it's ok that I wait. I still will see my surgeon next month to get my questions answered. I know my surgeon is good and thankfully he is in my hmo network. Wish me luck and I appreciate any advice from others who have gone through this procedure.
