i was told that i have ulcerative colitis in early jan. in late jan. i was told i have hpv. about 1 month or so ago a sore appeared in my mouth on my top gum. is there anything i can do for it and would anyone know what strain i might have. and how long before i was diagnosed that i may have gotten hpv. having no insurance makes it very difficult to get a doctor to look at me. my immune system is going haywire from the colitis. thanks.

from what i know, you can get hpv and not have symptoms anywhere from a couple months to a year or two...it would be hard to say when exactly you contracted it. also, there are about 60 or 70 different strains...only tests and a doctor would be able to tell you what strain you have.

That sore in your mouth could be totally unrelated to anything else that you have going on.try swishing your mouth with salt water a couple of times a day for about a week and see if it gets any better.Marcia

You were diagnosed with HPV in your mouth? Or do you mean you were diagnosed with HPV in your vagina, and now have a sore in your mouth? If its the latter, I doubt your sore is related to the HPV. You have probably developed a canker sore from your depressed immune system. Unfortunately, that is a guess, not a diagnosis. A doctor would have to look at you to tell.
YouŽd need a DNA analysis to determine what strain of HPV you have.
