I was diagnosed 8 years ago with FMS. Symptons are the typical - IBS, pain, depression, sleep problems, etc. These past few months I have been in much more pain than ever before. THing is that when I am still the pain is much worse. During the night just rolling over in bed is horrible. I moan outloud. I have swelling in my hands, feet. Some of my knuckles on my hand hurt just to touch. My feet hurt a lot, especially the ball of my foot and toes. This has been going on for several months and feels as if it is getting worse. When I get up in the morning, I force myself to walk. My feet hurt so bad. The doctor gave me muscle relaxers and Ultracet a few weeks ago. He also gave me a shot of something for inflamation.
Thirteen years ago I had blood test that showed I was positive for autoimmune disorder, but negative for arthritis or lupus. I have an appt. with the doctor today. I really am beginning to wonder if this is lupus. Any suggestions?

Hi Deb,
Your symptoms sound like you are hypothyroid--I had all those same symptoms for years and was always told my thyroid tests were "normal"--well, even though my blood tests were in the "normal" range, I was very sick and finally found a doctor to treat me. The first symptoms that come back when I need an increase in meds are the terrible foot pain, sleep problems, depression and swollen fingers & eyes!! Your antibodies could be high because of autoimmune thyroid disorder (Hashimotos).
Ask your doctor for a TSH test, but also try to get a free T3 and free T4 test as well. Go to the thyroid boards and read all you can to educate yourself. There are a lot of doctors who aren't really up to speed on thyroid issues!!
Good luck--jasmine
