 Hello everyone,
I am truly rejoicing to find this site. It was an accidental find but it is a treasure. I have been having health problems from Fibromyalgia for years now but was finally given the diagnosis in Feb of this year.
I have to say, it has play hard on my emotions and I have a hard time admitting to my self when I'm having a flare up. I've got a real problem with denial. Maybe too many years of doctors telling me nothing was wrong?
 Has anyone else found it difficult to trust your own bodies or do others have this head trip as well? I don't like it and hope with the right kind of support, I'll start being fairer to myself!

Hi and welcome, glad you found us. If you mean by the head trip that you have a hard time dealing with all these things that we experience, IS IT REALLY ALL FM? I sure do and then get myself anxious and make everything worse. I can get pain, say chest area, oh, it is the fm, one day another time I am wondering whether I should go to the E.R. The pain play havoc with our bodies and our minds.

Thank you for your reply, Linda :) . I think sometime that Fibro makes me crazy!! Right now I am trying to recover from pneumonia and I can not tell how much of my pain is the illness or the Fibro. I do know it has sent me into a bad flare up. I hate not knowing how to deal with myself.

Welcome, I agree with Linda, fibro makes me whacky. I'm trying to stop going to the ER with panic attacks about the pain. Last time I was there my name was sewn on a pillow LOL.

Thank you for the welcome and thanks for the feedback, Chris. I love the joke regarding sewing your name on your pillow :-) The thing is mine wasn't a panic attack but inflamation of the chest wall but I would have and did swear I was having a heart attack! Good thing I'm not a doc!

When there is a new pain and especially so with chest pains, never blame it on the Fibro until evrything else is ruled out. The ERs are now taking chest pains a lot more seriously than they used to. Often the docs don't know either until they are able to run some tests.

Yeah I know, just about every single time I go there that's what they say I have. It's costochondritis, inflammation of the chest wall and the ribs.

Icefire,
If you don't mind my asking where do you feel the pain of costochondritis? Is it just in the front of you chest (if so where?) or do you feel it on your side also. I've been having chest pain, right in the middle of my chest, tender to touch, just in one spot right smack dab in the middle of my chest! But it also hurts on the left side about 4" from the collar bone and @2" from the center of my chest. Also my side hurts, if you were to hold your arm straight out and put your hand against your side, that is where I feel the pain...I'm so sorry to ramble, this has just been worrying me and I needed to vent!!
What started off as a quick post turned into a novel!! Sorry!
If anyone could possibly shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate any input.

My costro is mainly left side, I get pain in under the breasts, through the breast, the side of the breast area, my collar bone and upper chest are always full of sore spots. I get pain the I call my bra strap pain, follows the shoulder down to the breast, as your bra strap would go, goes into the breast sometimnes, other times in under the arm I also get a lot of shoulder blade pain. Costro can affect any area of the rib cage front, back or sides.

rugrats,

I get it in the middle of my chest like that, or the whole chest area, the ribs, the collar bone, it goes into my back and could also be what's causing my arm pain. The Dr said that if bad enough it could go into your arms.

The doc told me that the dizziness was related. Especially when leaning forward. It is caused by the pain. I sure hate this. Having a flare now for 2 weeks. Feels like i have something stuck in the middle of my chest and even my neck hurts and arms too. What did we do to deserve this???
