I have been married 2 weeks now. I have never been sexually active of any sort until I was married. My wife has had 2 previous sexual partners. But was unaware that she had any sexually transmitted diseases.

About 1 week into our honeymoon (in Mexico) I developed these sores, now i guess they are referred to as an outbreak. In my niave self i simply thought it was some strange yeast infection. These sores kept getting worse and kept us from having intercourse. We purchased some monostat cream last thursday thinking it was a yeast infection, and it continued to worsen. I went to the doctor on saturday (we returned to the US on Friday) and he diagnosed me with HSV-2 (Test still pending). He prescribed Valtrex 1GM 3 times daily. I have taken Sat, Sun, and now Mon (9 pills) with no lessening of the sores... in fact they seem worse.

Is this normal??? When will they go away???

PS, on a personal note... This is pretty hard emotionally to accept, knowing that i had strived to never have sex until I was married... but i know my wife would never do this to me intentionally. I am still happy to be married and love my wife as much as ever!

Congratulations on your wedding!! And also Bravo on your choice to save yourself for marriage. How great. Even though you have this virus now, I'm sure that your reasons for saving yourself for your wife went far beyond "not catching something" and nothing can take that away from you.
As far as your non response to the valtrex, it sounds as normal as this virus can be. I have taken antivirals once for an outbreak and it didn't make them go away any faster or lessen the pain any better for me than just letting them run their course. And outbreaks can last a week or two, some even longer I guess. Other people get great results from the meds.
Welcome to the board, and good luck.
