I have been married 2 weeks now. I have never been sexually active of any sort until I was married. My wife has had 2 previous sexual partners. But was unaware that she had any sexually transmitted diseases.
About 1 week into our honeymoon (in Mexico) I developed these sores, now i guess they are referred to as an outbreak. In my niave self i simply thought it was some strange yeast infection. These sores kept getting worse and kept us from having intercourse. We purchased some monostat cream last thursday thinking it was a yeast infection, and it continued to worsen. I went to the doctor on saturday (we returned to the US on Friday) and he diagnosed me with HSV-2 (Test still pending). He prescribed Valtrex 1GM 3 times daily. I have taken Sat, Sun, and now Mon (9 pills) with no lessening of the sores... in fact they seem worse.
Is this normal??? When will they go away???
PS, on a personal note... This is pretty hard emotionally to accept, knowing that i had strived to never have sex until I was married... but i know my wife would never do this to me intentionally. I am still happy to be married and love my wife as much as ever!
