Dear friends,

We went to see the neurologist/sleep specialist today. He did a few cursory tests and then recommended a couple more tests for nerve disorders. I think one is called an EMG? Electromagnetic ... This was recommended because Trav reported that he felt the poking from a sharp object differently on different parts of his foot and leg. In some locations it hurt worse. The other test is a needle in a muscle of the leg to see how the muscle reacts. Then he wants to do a sleep study on Trav, because he has insomnia most nights, possibly creating the fatigue, etc. But the doctor didn't think the nerve tests would show anything abnormal. I think it is a detour, so am disappionted, but feel we probably shouldn't turn down any tests the doctors think might be necessary for proper treatment. Maybe my hunches are not correct. These other appointments are scheduled for Sept. 7 and 14. Still no ACTH, of course, from a neurologist! He simply said that Addison's is very rare, and that I should be glad he probably wouldn't turn out to have it. So long for now. ~ Tracy

Yes, Chris. This is really my gut feeling. And after the doctor told me Addison's was rare and I should be glad he didn't have it, I actually did tell him I wondered whether he might just have adrenal fatigue without it being fullblown Addison's. Mentioned that I'd read of it's existence. But to this he gave no response. I'll just bet this doesn't surprise you, after reading the adrenal fatigue book and how it states that most adrenal fatigue goes unnoticed and undiagnosed these days. Lucky us to have been born in the wrong century, huh? Maybe I'll try some adrenal components and licorice tea and see where it gets us? Thanks again, Chris! ~ Tracy

O.K., I'll remember that. We actually have a blood pressure cuff. How about adrenal glandular concentrates? This was mentioned by one doctor on the web. I wonder if these are safe for all ages, AND safe if you happen to have Addison's. I know they wouldn't be the treatment desired if Addison's. But I wonder if they would make things worse or a little better? I'm afraid I might have to try to self diagnosis, and treat a bit here, since we're not getting much help from the doctors. But I don't want to even try anything that can have bad side effects or exaserbate any condition (like treating hypothyroid without first discovering and treating the adrenal glands, for example). Thanks!
