Does HERPES SIMPLEX 1 have anything to do with STD's? how common is it? is it like Genital Herpes?

hsv 1 can appear genitally from someone who has hsv1 orally and performs oral sex, something like 80% of the population has hsv 1 (so all that's left is essentially children who haven't been exposed yet). only i think 10-15% of those that have hsv1 ever have oral outbreaks. i am not sure if hsv1 is considered an std or not

Hey. I have been told that I have herpes type 1 (which is where it appears around your mouth like a cold sore.) Its not bad at all, and the only time that I have an outbreak of it is when my immune system is down. When you are sick, you will notice it is starting to form a cold sore looking thing, but they are smaller and there is maybe 3 or 4 . my doctor gave me a cream to put on it when I have the breakouts. It really helps. The name of it is ZOVIRAX.

Anything that can be transmited through sexual contact is considered a sexual transmitted disease and HSV 1 is usually contracted through sex although it isn't the only way it can be contracted.
