Can anyone tell me anything about this and how it is similar to Herpes Simplex 2????
I am really worried as my Doctor said i tested negative for all STD's but came back positive for HSV 1.
Any advice, comment or reply will be greatly appreciated!

Are there outbreaks? are there people with HSV1 who never get the out breaks? is this an STD?

HSV 1 is similiar to HSV 2, but is usually associated with cold sores, and most adults have been exposed to the virus. Cold sores are not considered a STD. Either virus can infect any place on the body, but HSV 1 prefers the mouth and HSV 2 prefers the genitles, and symptoms will usually be milder when you are infected at other than the site of preference.

Most people who are teenagers or older will test positive for HSV1. Over 80% of the population is already infected by the time they reach 14 years of age, and the percentage only goes up as age goes up. Only about 20% of those infectedwith either Herpes simplex ever show symptoms. What this probably means is that you are infected orally with HSV1. Some people may get just one coldsore after initial infection, and never any more symptoms, some people get recurring coldsores from time to time, but most people never get any symptoms at all. Don't worry about it...most doctors don't even test for HSV1 anymore because it is just assumed that it will come back positive. :)
