Is the clinic run by rheumy drs.? ginnyash 08-24-2004, 08:38 PM I found one about 40 minutes from my house, just not sure about it yet. AliceBlueBelle 08-24-2004, 08:41 PM I have a friend who went to a fibro clinic over a period of years. I do believe she was helped to some extent. Very few ever experience a complete sustained cure. Not sure which Fibro Clinic you had in mind, but I believe most of them are on the 'cutting edge'. In this case it means they are trying out different regimens that show some promise. There is one solution that I believe gives the best value for the money. There is a web site put up by one of the Fibro specialists which contains a program with lots of questions. The answers to these are fed into a computer along with a long list of lab test results. The cost of the questionaire and analysis seems a bit pricey, but when you compare that with an office visit to this type of specialist, it becomes quite a bargain. Alice tkgoodspirit 08-24-2004, 11:11 PM ginny: I know of one in the Chicago area and there is one in the Birmingham area. You can do a websearch to find them. I know the one near Chicago works mainly on more of a "natural" method of treatment. Like Alice stated, most of them are using "new" techniques to try and help Fibro patients. As far as who run them, I'm not sure, but I know the one in Chicago (according to their website) has MD's and PT's on staff, the one in Birmingham was started by an MD, a rheumy, I think. Hey, if you go, let us know whatchya think! Good luck! tk countrygal 08-25-2004, 06:10 PM I searched the net about fibro clinics. Found the nearest one to me in Dallas. I called and asked for brochure. I was told that there are MDs and Rns. That they do not take insurance, so upfront payment was due for a 3 time visit. The meds that are ordered comes from Colorado. I asked for a sleeping med example , was given a natural sleep aid. I came to a conclusion that this clinic was not the type of treatment that i would approve of.. Maybe there are other types that i did not find. I will know more when i recieve brochure.... |
