When do u find out if you have a ocular herpes. Can herpes ob appear on your mouth and than on to your eyes ?


I been getting lot of headaches and pain on back of my head and eye pain.

I wear contacts, but I wash my hands all the time, I dont know how I could of spread it, but its crazy.

I get Out break on my lip and genital by Herpes Test IGG, says that I dont have herpes. It just dont make sense.

Why is that ????? Also, how long does it take before you go blind ?
My life is living hell.

hey, i have to tell you, i wash my hands all the time too, but i have a habit of cleaning out my eyes, and i wear makeup on my eyes too, well about 6 months ago, i started developing a really annoying itch on the inside crease of my left eye, at the outer edge, where it creases, and now every month it comes and goes away, as if its only in one spot, and i know theres a small outbreak there...even though i didnt, test just that area, but i know it has spread there, its weird, i know...cuz i dont know how it got there, other than maybe a tear in the skin of my fingers touched that area, and the virus became active inside my eye, where its moist and wet mostly, of course...i dont know how long it takes before you go blind, im still fine, but bright lights really annoy me, and hurt my eyes, as they have always been very sensitive anyhow...all i can say is i know what ure going through, and since u wear contacts (i used to as well last summer right before i got diagnosed)...u have a habit of always putting ure fingers in your eyes everyday, so it may just have spread like that, cuz small tears in dead skin on our hands and fingers, r invisible to the naked eye, so we can never tell where there is a tear or such a small cut we cant see it, and that part may have touched your eye...im not blind yet, im still fine, so u should be ok for awhile, of course if ure really worried, look up some info on ocular herpes on the web, then email a doctor on a herpes site, or make an appt, at your local health dept. with an std counselor or a doctor who specializes in std's....hope all this info helps...and i hope u dont have to worry as much, because ure not alone, i have it as well...good luck to you, this board is always here to lend u support..

what do you mean creset ? The way I put my contacts is that I wash my hands like 2 times before putting contacts and I just use my pinky finger to put them on. Its hard, but I dont whant to self contatminate my self.


Also do your eyes get really red ???

I had it checked by my Optomologist about two weeks ago and he says it was dry eyes. but I maen if ur just infected, how can they tell.

I have dry eyes and red eyes altogether. It gets worst when you put your contacts.Actually I have red lines in my left eyes and one red line in my right eye. Somebody was thinking that I'm using drugs. Never ever!.

Yea, I did, and it gets worst up on contact. I am also getting white things when I wake up around my eyes. What is that ? Is that herpes ?

for dry eyes, do you get pain and burning feeling once a while, you might have allergies dry eyes, to cure it, you need panol or dry eyes drop.

About two months ago my eyes started really bothering me everyday. From what I read about Ocular Herpes, it appears that you would know if you had it. Extreme pain and vision problems. However, I have to believe you can have "mild" versions as well. I'm going to go to an eye dr. to get it looked at.

I too was careful about the eye thing. I can tell you what, if I have it in my eyes then people should be really concerned about spreading this virus. for the past year I have washed my hands anytime I may have touched infected sites on my body. I never rub my eyes or do anything that could potential spread virus. I also do not get open sores.

If you get it in your eyes it doesn't mean you will become blind. Untreated, yes it could become a big problem and do a lot of damage. If it is treated and held at bay you should be OK over time. The only question is what the impact of anti-virals has on your body.

Red, dry eyes when you wear contacts does not mean you have ocular herpes. It means you've been wearing contacts too long and your corneas need a break. This past winter I had to start wearing glasses after thirty years of wearing contacts. My eyes felt much better once I stopped wearing the contacts.

Yea, but I take my contacts off, so it should feel better, no ? Infact my eyes are hurting so bad like there just painful.

It doesn't feel better until your corneas have a chance to heal, after about a month without wearing contacts at all. You should go to an ophthalmologist; all he/she would have to do is examine your eyes to know if your cornea has been damaged or not.

Honey, relax please. Occular herpes is EXTREMELY rare! I'm sure you don't have it. Listen, I was with my ex fiance who had herpes for four years. We didn't even know about occular herpes. I wear contact lenses. I never got in my eyes, even though I'm sure I didn't take any extreme precautions. Also, from your other post, I find it really hard to believe you would get all these conditions from just one protected sexual contact. Are you sure all these tests are right? As far as herpes 1, practically everyone has it, so it doesn't mean you got it from the encounter. most people get it during childhood even if they don't get any cold sores. Don't worry about that one at all. It's also hard to imagine this one girl would have so many different diseases. I would seek a second opinion if I were you. don't get paranoid or read about symptoms in medical books. that's a sure way of making you feel like everything is wrong with you. Just care about you hygiene in a reasonable way, wash your hands after using the bathroom or touching yourself in the genital area before touching your eyes, and you should be fine. Trust me, it is all fear that makes you feel like you have every disease in the world. I don't think it's possible.

I have to agree with Sophia, all these things couldn't have come from your sexual encounter.
Human herpes 6 is a childhood virus associated with roseola, almost 100 percent of children test positive for it. It can be reactivated when your immune system is attacked by other viruses.
EBV is mono, usually its a kid thing but adults can get it, I can't imagine making it thru childhood in a public school without catching it though, it also stays in your body and you will test positive for it for the rest of your life, and if you did catch it from this girl, all you had to do was take a drink from her pop or give her a kiss and you can catch it. Its spread by saliva.
Also your prostate thing is not an STD. It may have been helped along by the bacteria from gonorreah or chlamydia, but its caused by bacteria traveling up your urethra to your prostate. Kinda like a bladder infection...

I find it very believable though that she did have Herpes 2 and HPV. One question though, did you test positive for gonorreah and chlamydia too??? Or did they just treat you for it just in case. I know when I went in to the doctor for my herpes, she treated me for those two as well just to be safe. When the tests came back it turned out I didn't have them to begin with.

Anyway, I just wanted to shed a little light. When your antibiotics are gone you'll be left with two very livable viruses. Take care and try not to worry.
