I just turned 29. About a month ago I woke up with vertigo and dizziness. I thought something could be wrong my ears since they constantly ring and I always lose my balance. A few days later, I developed extreme muscle fatigue and weakness. I made an appointment with an ENT. He said my ears looked good, but I needed to get an MRI to rule out any tumors, MS, etc. My MRI came back normal, so he thought I should see my regular doctor to schedule a blood test. However, a few days later I started to feel better. My symptoms had lasted for three weeks. So I figured I should wait to get a blood test since I was feeling better. I was hoping that it was just a virus. However, my symptoms came back two weeks later. When I saw my regular doctor, I gave him a list I made of all of my symptoms. A page long! He looked at them, and asked how I was feeling emotionally. I said of course I feel upset that I have been sick for over a month, but other than that I am fine. He then asked if I wanted something for depression. I am not suffering from depression. I have been doing my own research and know that the symptoms I have are not those of depression. In fact, it seems like it could be fibromyalgia. But how do I know for sure when doctors won’t take me seriously? I have extreme muscle fatigue, pain in my arms and legs (sometimes a shooting feeling in them), weakness, loss of balance, headaches and migraines, sleepless nights, TMJ, watery eyes, my arms and legs fall asleep for no reason, hazy vision, forgetfulness and I get rashes in the sun. I have had IBS for ten years - not sure if that could be related. Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be? Fibromyalgia? Something else? I don’t know what to do anymore. What kind of doctor should I see? Please help. Thanks.

You defenitly need a good work of blood tests done. Ask for everyone in the book. Make sure you get tested for lupus. People that have lupus sometimes break out in a rash. I went to doctors for 2 years until they finally diagnosed me with FM, even though I knew what it was. If you doctor won't listen find another one unil you find a good one. Remember to stick up for yourself and don't let them push you around. Let us know when you get some results or a different Doctor.

Wow.....I seem to have all the symptoms you just described.....Maybe I should get checked out for FM too.....Well, all but one symptom (I think), what's TMJ? Not sure if I have that or not.....

TMJ is pain in the jaw area as well as pain in the muscles in and around the jaw and neck. I get it from clenching and grinding my teeth at night. I clench my teeth during the day sometimes, but once I realize I am doing it, I stop. I have a mouthpiece that I am suppose to wear when I sleep, but I don't like it. I thought that getting the mouthpiece would help prevent my migraines, but it didn't.

For a while, I thought that I was alone in the pain that I have been feeling. Finding this board has been a relief to know that I am not the only one and that I am not crazy like the doctors have seemed to make me feel.
