I recently had blood work performed and the Iron, Serum came back 202 which is high. The normal range is 35-155. Does anyone know what this could mean? I used a website www.directlabs.com to get my blood work orders without going through a doctor. It was a lot cheaper than going to the doctor and paying him and then paying the lab. My insurance doesn't pay anything unless it is major medical. I can also call and talk to a doctor at Direct Lab for $60.00 to discuss my results but thought I would check here b/4 I paid the $60. Thanks for any help.

You would have to give your age and a lot of other information that you probably would not be comfortable in sharing. However, apparently you have concerns or would not have had your blood tested in the first place. Things that make the iron levels high are a diet high in meat, some kidney disorders and some blood disorders. The doctor will have to go over those items with you.

I had my blood tested because I had not had my cholesterol or any other blood tests in 3 years. Really wanted to see my cholesterol and basically a general blood check up. Thanks for replying. I don't have a primary care physician so will probably contact the doctor at direct labs.
