View Full Version : How is chemo these days?

I was diagnosed with colon cancer on July 3rd and underwent a colon resection to remove the tumor on August 5th. My pathology report showed the cancer at Stage II. I have an appointment to see my oncologist on September 8th and the surgeon told me that the recommended follow-up treatment is 5 months of chemo (2 weeks on and 3 weeks off). He says the effects are mild and I won't lose my hair. I don't mind if the effects are more severe as long as I know what to expect. Is anyone out there undergoing this type of treatment and if so how is it going so far? I appreciate any information that I can get so that I can do my own research before my appointment. Thanks.

I was one week on three off plus radiation. The chemo did not affect my hair(it has been falling away naturally for years but did not accellerate). The only hair loss was from the radiation which cleared my butt to baby smoothness :)

The chemo does have other effects though such as loss of energy and diareha, mouth sores(suck ice or popsicles during chemo administration) and increased susceptibility to other diseases. I got tonsillitis during chemo.
