donsabi 08-27-2004, 06:20 PM Has anyone used Res-Q-1250? If so what were you results? Thanks Sponsor zip2play 08-28-2004, 07:41 AM I haven't tried them. Do they HAVE to be so cryptic about ingredients and price? Seems Res-Q-1250 is nothing more than high potency Omega-3's but then why do they keep talking up the benefits of Red Rice Yeast...the bottle ingredients don't indicate any. From what I glean, it costs ABOUT $50 to get a bottle (of maybe 250 caps/tabs) of 700 mg. mixed Omega-3's (EPA + DHA)...or a total of 175 grams active Omega-3's. My Vitamin Shoppe cod liver oil gets me 923 mg per teaspoon or about 66.5 grams active Omega-3's for $6 In order to get the same 175grams, it would cost me about $16. I bought some large Fish Oil caps on sale at the A&P this week (Nature Made) giving me 72 grams total for $4.49...so that gives me the 175 grams for $11. The Res-Q-1250 is just too expensive for my taste (and I resent the vaguely false advertising about it...smells FISHY to me :D:D) donsabi 08-28-2004, 11:50 AM I have a problem taking statins and while discussing this with my doctor he told me that his brother was using Res-Q-1250 with good results. The company selling this product claims they will refund your money if there is no improvement, but you must have a blood test before you start their therapy. Lately my insurance company has really limited how many lipid blood tests I can have. I wouldn’t mind paying the $50/month if it works. I have tried other therapies and nothing has done much good, so I am very skeptical. Like you, I already supplement with cod liver oil and fish oil. I looked into buying a device to check my own cholesterol profile, but that costs about $500 and I am not sure of the accuracy. zip2play 08-29-2004, 07:42 AM Another bit of suspicion was the "money back guarantee if not satisfied" AND THEN throwing in that you needed lipid profiles BEFORE AND AFTER...some guarantee! Having to PROVE the supplements didn't work is the proper work of the FDA and a courtroom and HARDLY a "satisfaction guarantee," Since they claim good benefits ising 2100 mg. EPA + HPA a day, why not just calibrate your fish oil to get that amount? I'm tempted to up mine somewhat also. Perhaps that 1000 mg. "guidline" can be improved upon with people who "need it more.":D On the home testing...there was a regular on the boards some months ago (now MIA) whose name escapes me at the moment...began with Pf (Pflug, PFlag???)...or Pz???? (I hang my head...It's going to KILL me all day trying to remember.) Anyhoo, He got a test system that he was confident with and I THINK it was in the $100-200 range. I also found a discount place for the test strips that cost something like $.40 per component but this is all very vague since it was some time ago and I never pursued buying the rig. Keep searching, donsabi...maybe you can dig it up. If I remember more I'll holler! ARIZONA73 08-29-2004, 08:24 AM Zip, I believe you were referring to pcovers. I agree that he appeared to be quite familiar with cholesterol monitors. zip2play 08-29-2004, 09:11 AM THANK YOU, ARIZONA...Now I can rest my mind and concentrate on important things like avoiding jail in NYC this afternoon!:D:D ARIZONA73 08-29-2004, 10:32 AM Hmm...I hope you're not going where I think you're going :nono: . I'm not even going out of the house today if I can help it. I'm just going to batten down the hatches and crank up the AC. The heat and humidity is awful! pcovers 08-30-2004, 04:04 PM Zip, I believe you were referring to pcovers. I agree that he appeared to be quite familiar with cholesterol monitors. I think his name was pcovers, as well. Haven't been around here for a while. Been busy taking zocor/zetia/fish-oil combo. Numbers are where I want them and never experienced any side effects from any - except maybe the occasional unpleasant dyspepsia and foul aftertaste of the fish oil. I have to admit I became weary of the debate. I tried policosanol, lecithin, niacin, the turmeric extract thingy, etc., etc. I have researched more peer reviewed journals and studies than you could shake a very large and tentacley laden stick at. In the end, I am very comfortable with statins and Zetia to do that which none of the other things I have tried have been able to consistently do. Do I worry about side effects.........I am concerned a lot less about them than I am about another MI. I have seen what seems like hundreds of folks come and go on this forum over the last many years with similar hints of hope and excitement over their recent "discovery" of the next miracle supplement. Most go down in a ball of flames. I am happy for those that find success in extract of chicken beaks. I am personally comfortable with the plethora of studies on the statin thing. I read and respect the data that is not so supportive. |
