View Full Version : blood in urine and problems

I posted a few days ago about going to the doc on Monday for what I thought was a urinary tract infection. NO infection, but microscopic blood in urine. He gave me antibiotics while he sent the urine away for culture, and told me to see my doc if I didn't get better in a few days. Well by Wednesday, I wasn't feeling better and went to my doc. No blood in urine at that visit, but still having symptoms (urgency to pee, and a bit of burning). Well now I still have the urgency to pee, no pain really, I don't know if I've had blood again because I haven't had another test since then. I'm 34 and really scared. I read on here a woman that now has bladder cancer, she was bleeding clots and tons of blood, but still I'm scared. I go for an ultrasound on Thursday, but why am I still feeling not right? The doc didn't seem to worried.
Anyway, thanks for any thoughts on this.
Michelle
I just came from emerge because I was running out of this certain pill that is helping with my symptoms. There was microscopic blood in my urine again and the doc didn't seem worred. No infection though! I am scared, but the doc said bladder or kidney cancer usually presents with blood that can be seen in the urine. She could only see a few cells under the microscope.
I have an ultrasound on Thursday am, but how do I stop diagnosing myself with cancer. This doc said maybe bladder irritation. I does hurt when I pee at times and it never feels like I empty my bladder. I know it is not normal to have blood in the urine.

Thanks again,
Michelle

Michelle,

I would not worry at this point. I had gone to my primary physician TWICE and was put on CIPRO for a UTI. Well, he finally referred me to my OBGYN and she said that I had a bacterial infection that had spread to my urethra. Basically I had been mistreated the whole time. This would cause blood in your urine. She put me on another antibiotic, and it cleared up.
Then, I found out shortly thereafter I also had a kidney stone, which could cause the blood in urine. There are so many things that can be simple things that you do not need to worry about the worst case scenario. A couple years ago I just knew something horrible was wrong with my kidneys. I went to the doctor and was told that I had a back muscle strain.
Just make sure to followup if the meds and diagnosis aren't right to get to the root of the problem.

Christy
