Does Anyone Know Which Brand Of Aspirin Is Best? Or Is There One? I Have Tried The Generic Brand. And It Bothers Me That I Have No Way Of Knowing Whether Its Working Or Not. They Have So Many Different Brands Out There. I Am Currently Taking 81mg Of Generic Brand Uncoated. Does Anybody Have Any Suggestions?
Thanx

Lisa:
As I mentioned in your other post, most studies' are showing that the Uncoated pills are best for heart therapy, so, saying that, and being an Uncoated consumer myself....I know that it is very difficult to even locate an Uncoated brand on the shelf.....however, the Generic work just as well as the name-brands......for myself, I use Saint Joseph chewable-I just swallow them instead of chewing them....same effect(Uncoated aspirin going right down to the stomach and dissolving there rather than taking the risk of a coated aspirin passing thru undissolved and not doing anything.) I go for the cheapest generic 325mg. Best price that I find occasionally is 2 for a penny in the 1000 tablet size.
"Aspirin is Aspirin" is my second favortite motto...and "CHEAP IS GOOD" is my all time favorite:D.
When I was on aspirin therapy I took a generic 81mg coated aspirin. Let me tell you ea time I had to get an IV or blood test I bled all over the place. I think that's a good indication that it was working. ;o)
Lisa,
I take a 8 MG of Coumadin daily and my cardiologist recommends 81 MG coated aspirin taken daily.
I wouldn't dare take any uncoated aspirin for I've had a bleeding ulcer in years past. Study or no study!
I use Bayer... after a bleeding ulcer, I take no chances just to save a few bucks.

I take generic uncoated, the cheapest I can find. I have degenerative joint disease of the cervical spine and I can only manage the pain if I take two tabs of aspirin every 4-6 hours around the clock. Thankfully, my stomach must be built of cast iron.

Yeah,
Mine too (now if only my tinnitus wouldn't go wild with 6-10 aspirin a day!)
Thankfully, my stomach must be built of cast iron.
That's exactly what I also said a few years ago. Then without no stomach pain I started bleeding from a stomach ulcer and had to have emergency surgery. They found my cast iron stomach had a hole in it the size of a dime.
