New here.....I had a stint put in last December, and the last month or 2 I have
been getting the short shocks in the upper center of my chest.each shock is about a second long continues for abou 3 to 5 minutes, shortens my breath.I am on
1 81mg asprin
1 25mg toprolxl 25mg
1 plavix 75mg
1 advicor 1000/20 mg
nitroglycerin 0.4mg a day.I just had a stress test done with ekg nothing
found.I can be doing stuff or just sitting there when it starts its little shocks.
What scares me is when it shortens my breath when the shocks hit me.
Any one ever had or heard of something like this before???worried stiff...

It sounds like coronary artery spasms. I had them after my stent and after bypass. They've eased off now after 2 1/2 years. You really should consult your cardio because it can be dangerous. They may want to prescribe a calcium channel blocker. When I have them it's very rhythmic. Sometimes mine would stop on their own and sometimes I had to use nitro.

My doctor moved my stress test up from november to week before last.Thats why he moved it,because I was having those problems. How long does it take a person to get use to using nitro patches with out having spliting headaches. The stress test showed nothing,if it had to go another 60 seconds i could not have made it.I will mention what you said though to him and see what he thinks. They dont come on every day but when they do I know they are there. It cuts your wind quick shocks to the center of my chest, one every 5 seconds or more for about 5 or 10 minutes. Its really hard to explan but that is how I told my doctor about them. Thanks for your reply..........

I have never gotten over nitro headaches in fact I sometimes don't take it when I probably should because of the headaches. If it spasms they wouldn't show up on a stress test. It 's usually found during an angiogram when they inject something to try to induce a spasm.
