I have an appt at 8am tomorrow to have a root canal performed on a molar tooth. Will I be able to eat or drink after the root canal? Or should I fill up my tummy before I go???

But if you are one to get nervous, make sure you eat something that is easy on your stomach. You will feel better if you eat before. Afterwards, once the lidocaine wears off, you will be able to drink normally, though things particularly cold or particularly hot might be uncomfortable. As for eating, once the lidocaine wears off you should be able to eat reasonably normally. Your jaw may be sore from being open so long, and your tooth might very well be sore, so you may not want to go out and eat something that is very chewy or tough. Additionally, you will either have in a temporary filling or temp crown that you need to be careful of for a day or so until your restoration has completely set. All in all, you should be relatively inconvenienced by the root canal! wanna-b-free 08-30-2004, 11:27 PM Thanks for your prompt reply! I'm not one to get nervous. But if I don't eat every few hours, I get weak, shaky and sweaty. So I guess I will eat a good meal before, just in case. Thanks again! |
