I had three stents put in in OCT 2003 for 95% blockages and am currently taking 10 mg Altace and 25 mg Chlorthalidone to control my bp which has been high since high school. When I went to the ER it was 180/90...the lowest I can get it now is 140/80. Just went to the DR this week since I was feeling weak and dizzy and the reading was 160/90. I have an appointment with my cardiologist coming up and would like to hear any suggestions about how to get it lower. The advicor 500 mg/20mg I'm taking for my cholesterol has worked wonders (122 tc) but since ny ecg's have showed an enlarged left ventricle I am worried about getting my bp #'s lowered asap. Thanks in advance to all for taking the time to give their advice.

Probably the doctor will consider upping the altace or maybe replacing it with a beta blocker.
How's your weight. Getting it to normal or low will get you a good BP lowering effect.
Maybe all you'll be able to get is a 140 systolic and then you must say "so be it." Lowering your salt intake probably won't have much effect on top of the chlorthalidone you're taking.
Exercise always helps.
