I went to planned parenthood today wanting to get seasonale. They didn't have that, so they gave me the mircette. The nurse said taken the right way it could work just like the seasonale. Kinda weird though because I've NEVER heard of this stuff. lol I don't even remember hearing it mentioned anywhere. I used to take ortho tri-cyclen...are they similar? Just not sure what to expect. :)

As far as birthcontrol... My first was ortho tricyclen which made me very sick with nausea, weight gain and gave me acne problems that I never had before. One thing about ortho tricyclen is that it did not interfere with my sex drive at all. Second I tried Yasmin because it was a much lower dose pill and had less of an effect on weight gain, nausea etc.... I was on that for 1 month and threw that out really fast. I was cranky, moody, sluggish, gained about 8 pounds and I completely lost my sex drive! After that... I took a break from birth control for about 6 months and immediately within 1 month, I lost the weight gain of 8 pounds, got my sex drive back and was a nice person to deal with! Finally after so much time off birth control... I just started Mircette a little over a month ago. The nurse told me that it's the lowest dose estrogen pill of 20 and I won't have as much of the side effects as the higer dose ones that are about 30 and 40. So far so good.... No weight gain, no bloating, no :) nausea and no acne problems....and I have a sex drive. My only complaint is that I have had some tiny break through bleeding, but I know that's just my body adjusting to the hormones. I know it might be a little too early to say anything... but this is my observation so far.

I'm not on Mircette but I'm on Desogen which is in the same family. Of all the pills I've tried its the best, but Mircette is one of the pills I'd consider switching to since I break out the placebo week and mircette has those extra estrogen pills. Just so you know, if you choose to not skip your period you should take the estrogen pills in the last week. I read a study that showed it helped prevent breakthrough ovulation.

Mircette is the only one that I've tried. I stuck with them all the way through. I had no pre-menstrual symptoms - no breaking out, no bloating, no cramps, no sore breasts, no mood swings - once I stopped taking them, that was it, BAM - misery! LOL. So I'd have to say if I ever get back on birth control, it would be Mircette.
