Hi,
I really sympathize with you. My son had horrible eczema when he was a baby. I don't know if this would work for you, but here is what finally worked for us:
I heard somewhere that tar was good for eczema. Tar is often found in dandruff shampoos, so that's what I got to wash the area with. I forget what brand it was because it was so many years ago (maybe Selsun Blue? Do they even make that anymore?), but just be sure to look for tar on the label.

Also, the cortisone cream our doctor prescribed wasn't helping, so I asked for a cortisone ointment. This worked better. I don't know if you can get this over the counter. You probably need a prescription.

Finally, I recently had a bout of very dry skin which I suspect was actually eczema. I used a really cheap lotion that I got at Walmart called "Lander's Extra Dry Skin Treatment," because I really don't like putting too much cortisone on my skin (The long term effects can be harmful). It contains a small amount of a mild cortisone (dimethicone) and mineral oil. It worked wonders overnight!!!

Hope this helps!

There is a forum on this board called "skin, hair, and nail problems". Have you looked there? It might have the help you need.

Well, i don't know much about eczema, but my dad has psoriasis on his hands. He has to get cortizone shots in them because nothing else works. Hope it helps...

I recommend taking hempseed oil as a supplement. I used to have bad ezcema also, and this really helped to clear it up. You can find it in healthfood stores or online, and you take 1-2 tablespoons a day. The capsules are not as strong and do not work as well. The oil is very very good for you , including your skin hair and nails. It tastes awful but works very well, I just mixed mine with a little juice and swallowed. Flazseed oil is good too, but hempseed oil is by far the most effective for ezcema and related skin problems.

Have you used a gel containing betamethasone? It sounds like OTC meds aren't going to help much- My very bad exema actually seemed to thrive on many supplements.
