View Full Version : Super Sensitive Skin & Waxing: Any TIPS??

I want to begin getting my bikini area, legs, and eyebrows waxed. I am getting married in May, and I want to give my skin plenty of time to adjust to the waxing procedure before the wedding and honeymoon.

I have SUPER sensitive skin, though, so I was wondering if there are any precautions I should take before waxing in order to protect my skin? How about after? What should I use to soothe my skin and prevent ingrown hairs??

Thanks in advance for any tips! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif

My main piece of advice would be to take a couple of Advil (or any pain reliever of your choice) about 45 min prior to waxing. It should help a bit with the pain.

Oh boy, I don't know if your reply is a good sign! I'm still pretty scared! I appreciate the advice, though, thanks! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I use 100% aloe vera gel after waxing. Then I apply a cold compress for about 10 minutes. That really seems to keep the redness and irritation down.

There is product called Tend Skin. It comes in a blue bottle. My daughter, who has extremely sensitive skin uses it in her bikini area after waxing and shaving. It is specifically designed to reduce or eliminate the red bumps and irritation associated w/ shaving and waxing. It works well for her and was recommended at the salon where she gets waxed. I'm sure you can purchase it at any salon or spa or possibly even on line. Its a good product that works.
