Hi Nigel, I am new to this board(on thyroid boards most of the time). I think I have the cubital tunnel syndrome. I don't have cramping, only numbness and weakness. I was wondering if you have any redness in your hand below the pinky finger? Mine is all red and puffy. I was wondering if it is from the cubital tunnel syndrome or maybe from fluid retention from having hypothyroidism.

No I'm sorry I don't have the redness you talk about just the numbness and weakness with a lot of crampping

hope you find your answers

They say they will be having me in sooner rather than later cos its pretty bad they say but here in the UK who knows when that will be??

I know I must be losing so muscle around the wrist as I had to have a link taken out my watch about 2 months ago and it loos like I will be having to have another taken out again soon as it keeps dropping down my wrist

you would think a trapped nerve can cause so much trouble with your arm and hands, the wrost part with me is I run my own little butchery business but finding harder to work as each week passes by

I just hope they sort me out pretty soon

Yes still waiting and waiting its enought to sent you crazy at times, no I don't wear any splints as i try to keep my hand as active as i can as I have a lot of wasted muscles in my wrist and hand, its the crampping what drives me nuts at times you go to pick up something and your hand goes all stiff, and then the numbness as well, well I pose I should not moan as there is a lot of people wrost off than myself

Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause cramping of the hand. This will cause your hand to try to curl up into a fist due to median nerve entrapment. All fingers and thumb will do this, except for the pinky.

thus, are you sure its "cubital tunnel syndrome" and not "carpal tunnel syndrome"? Cubital tunnel syndrome would cause cramping in the pinky and a bit of the wedding finger only.

For anyone without it: rest your elbow on the desk for ten or so minutes. After a while these 2 fingers will cramp up and contract uncontrollably. This is due to compression of the ulnar nerve.

I think if the surgery releases the nerve from entrapment then there shouldn't be any more cramping. Its more a matter of recovery from (minor) surgery. That's what I've been taught anyway.
