Andrea heitara 09-04-2004, 05:04 AM Just wondering if anyone can help me here. Wondering if it was normal after a few weeks of having litho to crush a kidney stone, is it normal to have pain all day and then a slight fever? Andrea Hi Andrea as you know, I don't know much about litho, but I did a little search on the net, and I found this in a site that explains the procedure and the effects that might follow: "As with any medical procedure, ESWL has side effects which are sometimes important. Most patients will see blood in their urine for a time. This is normal as the stone particles pass. Discomfort, fever or nausea may occur as the stone pieces pass." I also read that some gravel can take quite a long time before it passes. This means that you shouldn't feel surprised or worried if you, for instance, are totally alright for a month and then all of the sudden experience some discomfort for a few days. I would call your doctor, anyway. Just to put your anxiety at ease, not because your symptoms call for it :) Hang in there, baby. Better days are approaching... Carla ainfante 09-04-2004, 04:38 PM Hey Carla. I appreciate you answering me here. No one else seems to know, it's just you and me baby chatting on the kidney board. The doc filling in for my doc this weekend gave me more antibiotics. Didn't sleep a wink last night, hurt to move aorund, to sleep on my sides, just couldn't get comfortable, then took a Viocodin and that helped a bit but didn't sleep well at all. Then I noticed some spotting, don't know if that was spotting period or spotting passing a stone, spotting, LOL Still have pain, not as bad but it bothers me. I'm drinking so much water, can't wait until this last 1cm of stone in my kidney gets the heck out! Thanks for your comfort and advice. I'm very dramatic about the kidneys since my brother died back in February of this year from Chronic Renal Failure. So you see my anxiety point. Then of course the doctor says, if the fever goes up, you need to go to the ER immediately. OMG, do I need to say more about anxiety with kidney stones, LOL Love Andrea heitara 09-04-2004, 08:01 PM Baby... doc always say to run to ER if ANY fever goes up....:) I understand completely your anxiety but it's going to be alright. Really. Carla ainfante 09-04-2004, 09:25 PM Thank you. Just have an anxiety issue about kidneys and my brothers death, I know you understand. Andrea |
