I'm 37 and had a hysterectomy 6 years ago. I'm on calcium and estrogen but have noticed that my gums have receded and my teeth have moved. I'm pretty sure that I have a front top tooth that is loose.
All I can think about is loosing my teeth and I'm freaking out. I can't get into my dentist until the 20th.
Any thoughts?
Julie

I'm sorry! I'm glad you're seeing the dentist soon.
I haven't had this problem yet, but it is something I worry about. I don't want to need false teeth in my 20s! (or 30s, or 40s, or ever for that matter.)
I hope you are okay.

Julie, what did your dentist say about your teeth?
My husband just had to get all of his top teeth pulled and he now has dentures. It has been painful to me to see the agony he is in, trying to get used to these dentures and the numerous times he has been to the dentist to get them readjusted. They finally got them right about 3 weeks ago and he is much happier. Just saw your post and wondered how things went for you!

Well, my teeth have moved but they said that it is normal for our teeth to move some as we age. My gums haven't receded as much as I thought and they told me to start flossing more. My jaw bone and everything looked good so I just need to keep taking my calcium.

Yes they do move as we age. My two bottom teeth actually crossed each other. I got them straightened which is a whole other story.
I use dental floss but I also massage my gums with my fingers which strengthens them hence holding my teeth better. I have also gargled with hydrogen peroxide which does something to the gums and feels real good.

I was diagnosed with periodontal disease about 7 years ago. I have receded gums, bone loss in my jaw and every tooth is loose. I'm considering getting them all pulled and getting dentures. Unfortunately when the periodontal disease was discovered nobody told me that it is an indication of osteoporosis so I didn't have a bone density test done until a few months ago. I have now been informed I have osteopenia in my hips and osteoporosis in my spine. If I had of known then I would have had the density test done a lot sooner and maybe I wouldn't be in the position I am today. Glad to hear that everything worked out for you.
